Beautiful tawny caramel deep whiskey amber colour. Has a sweet apple core smell. Taste is way maltier than expected with lots of subtlety in the complex nature of it’s flavour. I’m thinking of apples, pumpkin pie, almonds, caramel and cinnamon as I drink this. The 9.5 % alcohol slips under the radar almost completely. Isn’t that odd?

12oz bottle. Pours transparent reddish brown, topped with a fairly large tan head that fades rapidly to a thin layer of bubbles. Aroma is quite sweet, with caramel dominating the aroma and alcohol and raisin in the background. Flavor is sweet as well, with caramel, raisin, plum, brown sugar, molasses, and brandy. Alcohol becomes more noticeable at the finish, and warms as it goes down. Decent sipper.

Chocolate and malt aromas. Smooth and balanced. Still a far cry from the true European Double Bocks, but a nice American Seasonal. Not sure if it was worth the $11 for a 4 pack but I figured I’d give it a shot.

Pours a dark, reddish brown color with 1/2 inch head. You can smell the malt. First taste is sweet and creamy. The mouthfeel of this beer is unusual. It’s very smooth and has slick feel on your tongue. Very malty with taste of caramel and a touch of hops. A very good seasonal brew.

Bottle pours red-brown with a small off-white head. Aroma is sweet, heavy in caramel and molasses with hints of chocolate and dark fruit. Also a faint smokiness from time to time. Flavor shows primarily the same. Starts off pretty sweet and finishes on a hot alcohol note.

Rich sweet malt syrup aroma. Very rich dark copper brown with a rich off white head. Rich thick texture, almost cough syrup like. Soft carbonation, hot alcohol heat and some barrel aged notes. A touch cardboardy but boarders on sickly sweet.

Rich dark cider color; Medium to heavy body creamy body; Aroma of malt, dry fruit & spice; Flavor of roasted sweet malt, caramel and chocolate/toffee; Texture is syrup like; The alcohol is very well hidden; Overall, it’s not as complex as some German dopplebocks I’ve had - but this is very good.

Cedar-colored lager, white head with some longevity. Deep malt flavor, aromas mostly of malt with a touch of caramel and toffee. Pretty good dopplebock. Not too complex, but well made.

Bottle ( 12oz ). Clear reddish amber with a large fizzy-foamy tan head (3+). Pretty solid aroma - light peat, alcohol, dry nutty cocoa and figs. Taste is a little syrupy - raisin, fig, mild alcohol, chocolate toffee sweetness - sticky, thick mouthfeel, finishes sweet and dry, could use a little more carbonation, but some moderate dry herbal bitterness in the finish balances it out fairly well.
