rustychiles (997), Mesa, Arizona, USA Oct 15, 2008 Pours a golden orange with a nice white head. Aroma of hops, pine, malt. Flavor is thick sweet, bitter, grapefruity and piney. Initially it seems thick and sweet but immediately the bitterness kicks in. Interesting brew, glad to have tried it. GMCC2181 (845), Bear, Delaware, USA Oct 13, 2008 Bottle from wolf. Nice orange color, decent head. Good aroma of hops. Taste is like an IPA. Like eating a pine tree....LOL....I would of guessed that it was a Euro lager. Taste was the same as the nose, hops, clean and crisp. Texture and carbonation level were average. Overall a beer that I enjoyed. Thanks wolf for sharing. Swolf3 (252), Elkton, Maryland, USA Oct 13, 2008 Bottle. Poured nice copper color with nice white head. Aroma of pine hops and citrus. Tasted simialar with nice smooth finish. Enojyed. jeffwilliams11 (310), hooterville, Michigan, USA Oct 13, 2008 2008 bottle. had i not seen the bottle, i would have sworn this was a double ipa. rich maltieness, somewhat sweet, thick body. hop bitterness is very in your face, and the aroma is amazing. spikester (602), Salem, Oregon, USA Oct 12, 2008 From a 2008 bottle. Amber with a cream color small head and fair lacings. Aroma is bold floral hops. Bitter resinous hops smack the tongue right away and later the full caramel malts lend some relief to the overall bitterness. The label says 8.1% abv which was well hidden in the taste. Bitter hops are relentless. Full bodied. Not a session beer IMO. SQNfan (591), Wheaton, Illinois, USA Oct 12, 2008 This poured a wonderful copper in color with a moderate head of very fine off-white bubbles. Aromas are of citric hops balanced by semi-sweet caramel malt and a tough of bread dough. The flavors from the nose continue into a medium-bodied beer that is hoppy with good balance. The midpalate and finish are qutie dry from the hops with the malt adding a touch of sweetness to balance the hoppy bitterness. BeerVirgin72 (778), Pataskala, Ohio, USA Oct 11, 2008 Bottle. Poured a very pretty burnt orange color. Aroma was wonderful. Very floral and hoppy. Flavor was a big old whammy of HOPS. Some citrus and pine. Very sticky in my mouth. Wayyy too hoppy for me, but I bet it makes you hop heads happy! CoachJT (35), Columbia, South Carolina, USA Oct 11, 2008 Beautiful copper color with a nice solid white head. Nice hoppy aroma. This did not really taste like a pilsner to me, and the mild, nondescipt taste was not what I expected from the nose. I was a touch disappointed with this one, since Sam Adams usually turns out above average beer.
