Davinci (295), Chicago, Illinois, USA Feb 29, 2008 Pours a gorgeous cloudy orange with billowing rocky white head. Wonderful head retention. Nose is super spicy HALLERTAU! It’s like I just through a few ounces of it into some boiling wort. Burns the nose in that o so pleasant way. Big spicy hop flavor, bitter to the end. Middle opens up a little of the residual sweetness, but not to the point of real balance... but who needs balance anyway hehe. Ends resinous and piney. This is a nicely done, somewhat novel beer sure to make a hop head smile. Collint (450), Sylva, North Carolina, USA Feb 28, 2008 12 oz bottle. Poures a very cloudy haze yellow. Aroma of citrus and hops. Flavor gives a good hop flavor with a pilsner finish. I really like this. TikiE (360), Sylva, North Carolina, USA Feb 28, 2008 Dank! Pours a hazy yellow color with minimal head. Smells like perfume and tastes of sweet hops and alcohol. Good beer, GET EM SAM! utopiangator (3), Tallahassee, Florida, USA does not count Feb 28, 2008 Pours a golden orange with a white, dense head. Aroma was very hoppy, with pine and citrus overtones. Thought the hops would be overpowering, but it was balanced well, especially towards the bottom of the glass, after it had warmed some. Not what i was expecting from a pilsner, but a pleasant surprise. DragonStout (1380), Pataskala, Ohio, USA Feb 27, 2008 Thanx to Elmatador for this.A big bold, flavorful beer.Lots of hop aroma where as the flavor was hoppy but not overdone.A suprisingly solid beer.Finished off slightly bitter. Gachupines (290), USA Feb 26, 2008 Hazy, golden yellow appearance with a white head. Aroma is light hops. Flavor has a stronger hop flavor up front with a decent malt backbone. Bitterness lingers in the aftertaste. This is rather different than most Sam Adams beer, and I hope they make more like it. shp555 (1677), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Feb 25, 2008 Pours a hazy golden color with a white fluffy head. Aroma is slightly malty, lemon zest, and and some spicy hops. Flavor is malt, lemon, and a bitter spicy citrus hop finish. beerheart (237), Erie, Colorado, USA Feb 23, 2008 I was pleasantly surprised by this. The best Sam Adams beer I’ve ever tried. (I did not like Utopias at the 2007 GABF.) This beer is "extreme" hopped. The lingering, bitter aftertaste is the only criticism I would make. But it is the reason that I would choose numerous other extremely hopped beers over this.
