Hudspart (371), Hudsonville, Michigan, USA Nov 30, 2007 Bottle: Suprisingly good beer. Pours amber with a good thick head. Aroma of hops and strong flavor of hops. I did not know that a lager could taste this good. Highly recommended. cking (1012), North Canton, Ohio, USA Nov 30, 2007 4-Pack from my grocer’s beer isle, pricey but what the heck it turned out to be a really good beer. Pours a magnificent golden-orange color in my pils glass, very cloudy and thick. Large filling white head and thick blanketing lacing. Inviting "green" aroma of robust noble hops. I will forever know the enticing aroma of the Hallertau hop, unmistakable with a fresh vegetation quality. The aroma is fairly tame compared to the assertive flavor. Wet grass and mild lemon with some bran cereal, this is real nice. A crisp fresh quality coupled by a thick malt body, the mouth feel is filling and strong. Lingering bitterness from the sharp aftertaste. Full flavored due to a hearty malt content to help balance the heavy dose of Hallertau hops. Biscuits and greens o’ plenty. Biting flavors that really accentuate the hop. Mild off flavors of caramel and citrus. I found this to be a well rounded brew, thoroughly enjoyable and surprisingly powerful. Snojerk321 (1917), San Diego, California, USA Nov 29, 2007 12oz bottle, 2007. Big nose of Bavarian hops, pine, citrus and earth. Poured an amber orange with an off white head. One of the better brews I’ve had from Sam Adams. TheRimmer (483), Florida, USA Nov 29, 2007 Stale, old hop aroma. Orange color. Skunky flavor of rotten earth, possibly mildew. My friends drain poured it. finished with alcohol, fetid hops, wheat germ. glennmastrange (807), hobe sound, Florida, USA Nov 29, 2007 Bottle. Moderate notes of straw, bread and pine, light notes of herbs, dough, white wine and medicine. Head is large, rocky, thick, white, has excellent lacing and is fully lasting. Color is hazy amber. Flavor starts lightly acidic and bitter, and a long moderate to heavy bitter finish. Palate is medium, oily/creamy and has a soft carbonation. It finishes moderately astringent. Not the hop experience I expected and an odd aroma threw this beer off a bit. KawaBomber (193), New Jersey, USA Nov 28, 2007 12oz. Bottle: Cloudy tangerine appearance w/ a fluffy white head. Fresh, clean hops on the nose & some decent lacing left behind. Hoppy flavor w/ a bitter finish. Not a bad pilsner at all...but...Holy palate killer Batman! drewbeerme (2224), Chicago, Illinois, USA Nov 28, 2007 12oz bottle, 2007 vintage. pours dense golden-orange with creamy white head. a really big noble hop aroma, notes of citrus and leather. flavor is sweet citrusy, leathery, a very soft and delicate hop flavor a bit on the earthy and spicy side balanced nicely with a malt back bone that stays clean and refreshing. carbonation is very smooth. you can start to taste the sweetness of the alcohol a bit in this but otherwise its an awesome beer. from what i recall, the 2007 vintage is better than the 05. now, how about a great pilsner in a 6 pack? joshwilfong (769), Cleveland, Ohio, USA Nov 27, 2007 very nice golden appearance with a sweet pilsner malt nose. flavor has some nice buttery pilsner malt with a huge hop component that is very pleasant. someone had told me this beer resembles a double ipa more than a pilsner, but i disagree, this is a hopped up pilsner that is very pleasant. very good beer
