Well-packed white foam generates abundant lace. Aroma boasts an array of zesty, floral and spicily herbal hop notes. Pinch of resin, sea salt, tealeaves, honeycomb, and toasted hay. Dense carbonation exhibits a fluffy softness. Perfectly full in body, thanks to the impeccable conditioning. Tight resinous grit immediately hugs the palate. Soft, but extremely explosive, as well. Overstated alcoholic sting soon surges forth, but is beautifully curtailed by a lightly husky, toasted hay pillow of malt. Poignantly herbal and bitter hop notes gain more depth as they take on supple honeysuckle leanings. Despite the sharpness, it remains creamy and mouth filling, which boosts the complexity ten-fold. The hop juiciness mirrors that of the herbal laced bitterness with fresh, pulpy white grapefruit juices that seemingly explode between the teeth after each swallow. Finishes with a lustrous medley of candied citrus fruits which adorn the gently husky malt frame. Not that the sweetness, alcohol, or huskiness are overly apparent, but perhaps a cleaner, more vivid pilsner malt would be a better fit. PhillyBeer2112 (2087), Orange Park, Florida, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 19, 2007 I wasn’t rating when I first had this and loved it, so when it came out again I was not only giddy to be able to try it again, but to have the opportunity rate a beer that I dug a lot. Pours murky orange / amber with a large extra-soapy off-white head that has good lacing. The aroma has a fantastic amount of floral hops as well as hop traits of spice, woodiness, and earthiness. There is some noticeable pils malt, but it’s mainly a hoppy bomb. Medium / full body that is velvety, resiny and rich with some semi-soft carbonation on the finish. The flavor starts with semi-sweet pils malt and all the hop traits from the aroma. It is very clean with almost a fresh / green hop quality. The finish contains more sweet pils malt and spice. While this does have some pils traits is misses a lot - lightness, grassiness and such. However, for what it is it is excellent and I wish this was available more often. Easily the best beer made by the Boston Beer Company. Thumbs enthusiastically up!! bitbucket (2034), Kirkland, Washington, USA

Full body and moderate carbonation. The taste starts sweet with cookie dough and alcohol. A bit of chalk and salt, and a good bit of pine in the finish. patrick767 (2033), fort wayne, Indiana, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 10, 2009 12oz bottle - Pours copper with a thin white head. The nose is mainly hops with a touch of citrus and a little bready malt. The flavor is, as one would expect from the commercial description, led by the hops. That it’s all Hallertau is readily apparent in the dry bitterness with a hint of citrus. A little sweet malt in this medium bodied brew keeps it from going overboard though I wouldn’t consider it "one of the hoppiest in the world" by any means. Nice brew. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 11, 2006 24oz. bottle. Fresh, fruity hop aroma, some lemon, herbal accents and spice mingling with faintly sweet, crackery malts and faint hints of celery. Hazy light rosy amber color, bottle conditioned, with a fine, uneven, lasting head and copious amounts of lacing. Flavor profile is fairly bitter to start, becoming fruity and sweeter throughout with a burst of juicy, leafy, citric hop flavors and pale maltiness coming together for the close, which is almost exclusively hoppy, seeing more satisfying bitterness linger on for quite some time. Palate is lightly creamy and effervescent, body is medium-full. Highly flavorful and surprisingly good overall. Angeloregon (2025), Portland, Oregon, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 9, 2007 2007 Hallertau release from 12-ounce bottle. Poured a light yet thick straw-golden color. Quite pointed, sharp hop, yeast, and/or malt blend. Glad this genre of beer is making its presence. Very hoppy and super bitter. Finishes clean and with taste buds still in tact.
