Aroma is a nice balanced hoppiness. Zesty, spicy hops in front of a bready, sweet, almost vanilla like maltiness. Lemon, citrus, wheat, orange. Has the aroma of a wheat beer with an extra spicy hop kick. Taste is tingly, spicy, bitter hops. The level of bitterness is well done. Intense but still has a high drinkability. A spicy, bitter finish. Prickly in the mouth. By far the best Sam Adams beer I’ve ever had. Very good. Skyview (4050), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 20, 2007 Picked up four pack of 12-oz bottles at Cellar’s Wine & Spirits in St Paul, MN. Pours a semi-hazy orange amber brew with a decent off-white head that has a slow dissolve and excellent lacing. Aroma of piney and citrus hops, black pepper, some caramel malt and a touch of pepper spice. Taste is medium bodied, very light carbonation with a decent hop burn and caramel flavor. Finish is very bitter that would keep the hop heads quite happy. Very impressive. Drink4Satan (586), Bristol, Rhode Island, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 31, 2007 Pours a cloudy orange with a thin off-white head that fades to a sudsy cap. Nice zesty and earthy noble aroma with a ton of malt sweetness. Strong caramel and toffe malt flavour is overlain with zesty, citiric hops and some booze coming through. There is a squash-like vegetable flavour created in the concoction. The finish has a piney resin hop bite that lingers for a while. The mouthfeel is slick and full with a dry, hoppy finish and soft, tingly carbonation. Gregis (1132), Shawnee, Kansas, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 5, 2007 12 oz bottle poured into a pilsner glass; surprised me with a slight gusher. Pours a hazy dark amber with a loose, frothy, ivory head that leaves web-like lacing down the glass. Without question, this is the best smelling Samuel Adams that I’ve ever sampled. I’ll definitely try the next bottle in a snifter or tulip, just to see how much more I can get from this one. The nose is dominated by solid citrus and floral hops with a significant caramel malt backing. This smells like a lot like an IPA. The palate is on the light side of medium-bodied, quite slick and finishes with a nice hop bitterness that squeezes the back of your tongue and a light, sticky resin that sticks to your lips. The only thing that I can think of that’s keeping this beer from being classified as a IIPA is the lightly bready pilsner malts that it must contain and are barely discernible behind the hefty amount of hop bitterness that it packs. The flavor more or less follows the nose with the citric and fruity hops front-and-center. The caramel and bready malt notes play second fiddle but keep the hops from just bowling you over. This beer has completely changed my mind about what the Boston Beer Company is capable of creating. fattibobatti (246), Tallahassee, Florida, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 20, 2008 This was a real pleasure. Aroma was of a nice citrus with some floral characters along with strong hops. Taste was the same but the blending of the flavors went real well together hiding a lot of the alcohol and making a nice taste. I would definitely buy this one again. Real tasty. robbmotiwalla (50), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 1, 2008 Somewhat citrus aroma with some caramel. Nice cloudy appearance with good lacing. Full bodied flavor that resembles a pilsner a bit but the hops is potent and very prominent as is the citrus so it steps in to what an imperial IPA represents. The finish is nice and smooth and slightly bitter. Overall, this is the beer that has changed what I thought of Sam Adams. This is a good beer that I would buy again.
