jsquire (2086), St. Marys, Ohio, USA Nov 6, 2009 Turbid orange/brown color out of the bottle with a quick, off white head. Orange peel and coriander spice in the nose, with lots of looming alcohol. This is a big beer, and a huge wit. It is very boozy. Thick, syrupy mouthfeel with lots of melted caramel, warm bread, bitter orange peel, spice, and lots of alcohol. I can really feel it on the exhale. This is an interesting take on a wit. dekeq (35), New Jersey, USA Nov 2, 2009 Poured into the glass it produced a very nice, opaque, golden-hued beer. It had a nice film around the edge after the head settled. The aroma consisted of a lot of hops. It was also pretty sweet - reminded me a little of traditional Samuel Adams Boston Lager. Aside from this, it was a pretty complex scent and I couldn’t pick everything out. As for the taste, there wasn’t much to say at the start of it but at the end there was a hit of everything. There was a nice combination of barley and spices and a slight bite from the aforementioned barley and alcohol content. This was a pretty smooth beer but it was a little unbalanced in terms of taste-flow. It started with not much of anything, kicks you with a spice and it ends bitter. It reminded me a little of Chimay White in terms of overall flow. RasterMaster (120), , Oklahoma, USA Nov 1, 2009 Hazy orange amber pour into off white head that quickly melts into a ring of lacing as carbonated bubbles rise from the bottom of the glass into a swirling pool of foam. Aroma of sweet malty citrus and spice. Initial flavor of sweet caramel, citrus, and bready malt fading quickly into a bite of peppery spice. Reminiscent of the left over fermented peachy fruit juices from a home made friendship cake my mom used to make. Sticky sweet with a spicey kick in the finish. WLG423 (43), Connecticut, USA Oct 30, 2009 Pours out a dark burnt orange with a light colored head that quickly shrinks. A light aroma with notes of grass and slight citrus. A much lighter aroma than expected. Flavor is surprisingly full for such light aroma. Incredibly bitter first taste with a long lasting slightly sour finish. Flavor reflects the wheat origins of this beer. Mouth feel is sticky. Finish is medium in length and leaves a dry mouth feel afterward. After drinking more of this beer I realized how unpleasant it really was. Rarely do I have trouble finishing a beer, but this was one of those times. checkmatei1 (629), Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 30, 2009 Bottle: Poured a orange color with a white head. The aroma was citrus, oranges, lemons, and coriander. The flavor was coriander, orange, full bodied, big time alcohol, and some peppery finish. Overall, tasty but might actually settle better with some age. TheBeerOrg (1563), Kentucky, USA Oct 25, 2009 Pours hazy orange/amber with a thin wispy off-white head and some yeast floaties. Notes of candied malt, citrus, spice. Full to heavy bodied with lush carbonation, alcohol is a bit harsh. Also a bit too sweet and intense for me. I think I would have preferred this a bit more if it had been 8%, more carbonated and better attenuated. bozoNZ (481), Christchurch, New Zealand Oct 25, 2009 12oz bottle. thick orange, pours the most syrup like beer ive ever seen. When poured it leaves debris on the side of the glass. Aroma of warmth, tangerine and some other citrus. Full on flavour with a mouthy orange peel and stewed apricots. Mandarine and tangarine notes in the finish, with hot alcohol. Loving this - a shame my wife gave it to me after Ive just mowed the lawns...!!!! Dorwart (1807), Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA Oct 24, 2009 Thin head of fine white bubbles. Nice fruity aroma with some oranges, pineapple, nutmeg and some straw. Also very sweet smelling. Color is a hazy dark orangish brown. Wow, not much resemblesce to a witbier. Big malty and sweet palate. Very good though but not in the style at all. More oranges, some caramel and a bit of spice. Hides its alcohol pretty well. Pretty thick and chewy. Finishes sweet and hot and very good. This is mor elike a lightbodied barleywine without and hops. I like it.
