Commercial Description:
Sam Adams Imperial White pushes the boundaries of a witbier. While the brew delivers orange and coriander notes typical of a witbier, it has a bigger mouthfeel and body. It is truly a unique brew.

Bottled. Poured medium ambery-orange with a short, uniform cap of white head. The aroma was large and in charge with warm bananas, sticky cloves, and some sort of strong cleanser over a pale malt and honey base.. hot, hot, hot. The flavor had sticky caramel and banana sugars with some peppery and clovey spices around.. hot finish with residual sugars and alcohol.. didn’t come together well. Thick, cloying, and messy on the palate with sticky sweetness laced with intense alcohol all over the place.. any semblance of subtlety was promptly defenestrated, and this was hard to drink.

Pours a rather dark copperish color for any type of wit (imperial or otherwise). Smell is of more obnoxious sweetness and a bit of oxidation. I mean seriously, this is bad. I almost drain poured this garbage. Very little in the spice notes, where is any sort of esters of the Belgian yeast or orange / coriander. Where is the the tart fruit notes, where really is anything. This is awful. I’m going to rate this low just because this is so far off style is isn’t even funny. what the hell is this beer?

Bottle at Flying Saucer, Houston. Pours a lackluster thick, dark orange with a meaty peach and a raisin-with-balls nose. Flavor is strong alcohol-soaked peach mango with a biscuity finish. Thick and pleasant mouthfeel. Bordering on a barleywine in intensity, this beer might be too strong alcohol-wise for its own good.

From bottle @BeerFest in Israel, pinkish-orange with a nice off-white head, aroma of orange, lemon, mandarin and marmalade also it has some floral notes in it, grapefruit flavor with some honey winey acidity and bitter pleasant finish, Im not sure It represents a classic belgian style.

Aroma is citrus, bananas and alcohol. The beer pours a deep yellow orange with a quickly dissipating head and lots of carbonation on the glass. taste is of bananas, yeast and some other fruit notes. The palate is mainly alcohol. good beer but the alcohol could be a little better hidden.

Poured a hazy golden brown with medium off-white head. Aroma sweet with a little bread and caramel, then a small touch of coriander and a metallic note. Flavor is sticky sweet with lots of malt, bubblegum and caramel, some bread and coriander/citrus zing as well. Palate is sticky and thick, almost overly sweet and missing the spiciness that I like in a wheat beer which would surely help cut some of the sweetness. The alcohol is noticible but not bad. Overall, not bad, but not great either. For me it was much too sweet and out of balance. I can get through one but would not want more in one sitting.

Pours dark golden with slight hint of amber, with off-white head. Nose leans more towards grain/malt, with a small ripe fruit component in there as well. On the palate the alcohol is right up front to me, with big wheat/malt flavors, sugary & tart flavors, and some dessert sweet spices towards the finish.

Pours a slight cloudy dark amber with not to much of a frothy white head. Aromas of caramel, bread, coriander, and a touch of orange. The flavor was actually impressive to note. First of all this is Sam Adams, a mass producer of micro brews, and secondly I’ve never had a brew from them that struck me as impressive. There is a smooth thickness about it with notes of bread, coriander, nut, a little hint of orange, and caramel. Its malty and not spicy much at all as with a lot of "White" beers, which I dislike. My only qualm here is that there is a little alcohol that comes through. The average score for this beer is to low indefinitely. One of the few beers I’m glad I purchased from Sam.
