| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 25, 2009 Poured from bottle. Vanilla aroma. Copper, tan head persists. Vanilla, cake, citrus, and pepper. Just a teeny hit of alcohol in flavor. Lacing. Great mouth feel, but a bit sticky. Finished well. Well done. vyvvy (2068), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 25, 2009 Pours lightly hazy copper with a nice sized sudsy beige head. The aroma has quite a bit of alcohol warmth, wheat, spice, bread, vanilla and cream. It has a thick body that is smooth and moderately soft carbonation. The flavor starts much like the aroma and is overly alcoholic and rich. The finish is warm and has more spice. This has very little in common taste-wise with a wit. This is okay at best. | 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | May 24, 2009 Aroma of peppery spices, orange, and Belgian candi sugars. Pour is a nearly opaque orange, with a small cap of white head. The flavor is where this falls down. Aggressive notes of orange and sweetness, with noticeable alcohol, there’s a touch of pepper notes at the end. It’s drinkable, but that’s about all it has going for it. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 24, 2009 Pours quite hazy into my 25cl tulip glass with a three finger thick lightly tanned colored head. The beer is a hazy amber hue that shows a bit of brightness when held up to the light. The aroma smells quite a bit of orange, this almost drowns out everything else, though it isn’t overly loud. A lot of the fruitiness seems to come from the fermentation character, which boosts the citrus note.
Thick and chewy feeling, the beer also has a fair amount of sweetness too it. The sweetness is boosted by sweet orange peel. There is also an earthy, lightly vegetal coriander note to the finish as well as a touch of spicy pepper. There is a touch of alcohol here that provides some heat. Some sweet grain notes combines with the citrus to create some notes a bit like honey.
This beer is fairly simplistic and really not all that great. Not horrible either though, just not exactly enough like a Wit to be what I was looking for. jkaiser (220), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 22, 2009 This was a good Sam Adams offering. Strongest White ale I remember ever to try. YUMMY. Orlando Beerfest. MaltDawg (778), Richmond, Virginia, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 22, 2009 Caramelized malt sugars and spicy Belgian yeast character in the aroma. Slightly cloudy dark orange golden with a small fine white head. Flavor is sweet malt with some graininess. The spicy yeast character follows to the finish which is sweet with a touch of sourness and some peppery alcohol warming. Lacks the complexity a strong belgian should have. badgerben (3605), Blaine, Minnesota, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 21, 2009 Copper color with a medium head. Powerful coriander and sweet orange aroma. Super thick mouthfeel, like whipping cream. Quite sweet. Strong wheat, malt, coriander and sugar flavors. While tasty, it’s so thick and sweet, I’m not sure I could drink much of it. Update: 20 minutes later, nope... couldn’t finish it. Incredibly cloying. Good effort, but a little more attenuation would make it spectacular. robforbes (1102), Bremerton, Washington, USA
