Commercial Description:
Sam Adams Imperial White pushes the boundaries of a witbier. While the brew delivers orange and coriander notes typical of a witbier, it has a bigger mouthfeel and body. It is truly a unique brew.

Bottle. Amber beer with a cream colored head. Wheat, yeast, and spice aroma. Wheat/malt flavor with light citrus and yeast. Medium-plus bodied. Malt and yeast lingers with light spice. It turns a bit to a plastic flavor.

Chewy, spicy, stinky. Orange. Dirty, like they made it imperial by adding a scoop of dirt and a handful of sugar. Icky.

Pours a murky reddish-orange with a medium tan head. Aroma - Sweet Carmel malt, toffee, fruity. Taste - Sweet, syrupy malts, orange rinds, raisins, bitter hops. Overall- Not impressed with this at all. I was expecting something better. I does hide the alcohol well though. It’s too sticky and sweet to have more than 1.

Malty, fruity, sugary apricot aroma. Smells really good. Dark, cloudy amber color. Medium mouthfeel. Weird, fruity flavor. Slightly alcoholic in the finish. Sugary sweet...really sweet....eh...not something to drink more than once...

Pours from the 12 oz bottle an orangish-amber with a thick foamy head that settles into a heavy collar. There’s an almost macro like fizziness...LOTSA bubbles rising to the top. Aroma is wonderful, a mixture of fruit (orange & banana) and a caramel/toffee note. The flavor is big, bold and wonderful as well. I pick up hints of the aforementioned fruit plus the caramel/toffee, plus a bubblegum like sweetness. The alcohol is present and gets more noticeable as the beer warms, but doesn’t take away from the experience. The mouthfeel is quite substansial...this is a thick, almost chewy beer. Overall, a big, bold, BEAUTIFUL beer from Jim Koch & the crew at Boston Beer Company!! This is top notch stuff, and I hope there’s more on the shelves when I make my next beer run!!!

Not sure why the hell someone would decide to make a beer like this. Big, chewy bread backbone. Strong syrup sweetness with big caramel notes. Lots of fruit, namely plum and raisin, but funked orange peel and some sour apples. The spice is there but totally overpowered by the retarded malt backbone.

12 oz. bottle from Total Wine. Pours dark orange with a white head. Much darker than a normal Witbier. Aroma of yeast, orange and honey. Taste is way too sweet, and almost syrupy in mouthfeel. Even if you throw the idea of a Witbier out the window this doesn’t translate well as any style Belgian. I do get some of the orange and coriander notes but this is just too damn sweet.
