Commercial Description:
Sam Adams Imperial White pushes the boundaries of a witbier. While the brew delivers orange and coriander notes typical of a witbier, it has a bigger mouthfeel and body. It is truly a unique brew.

Amber with a thin off white head. Aroma is a light spice, citrus, yeast, light malt, cinnamon. Taste is light alcohol, yeast, cloves and cinnamon, light brown sugar and malt.

Pours a hazy orange amber with white head. The aroma is wacky, I get lots of clove, banana, sweet candy, and other weird stuff. The flavor is very sweet, with flavors I can’t really place. The mouthfeel is fairly syrupy. Overall, an interesting beer, and a nice effort from Sam Adams, but I probably won’t but often.

12 oz bottle from Belmont Station. Nose of Cloves, corriander, yeast and candi sugar. Cloudy copper with a medium beige head. Flavor is very spicy and lightly sweet with some pepperiness and caramel. Finish is slightly sweet.

Pours a reddish amber with a thick off white head. Very sweet candy like aroma with orange and coriander. Taste is very sweet and spicy, lots of orange and candy like sweetness. Just too much sweetness and not a good representation of the style.

Served cold out of a bottle. Wonderful color, golden orange with a white forming and lacing head. Wonderful smell of fruit and alcohol. Taste is that of banana to me. Great overall brew, wonderful Job Boston!!!

Bottle: Hazy copper with an off white fading head. Hugely sweet and under attenuated aroma- solvent, medicinal, plummy, vanilla, unpleasant phenolic notes, all bombard a cheap spice note. Cloying and sticky texture, like cough medicine. Nothing about this beer is characteristic of a Witbier, or a good beer in general. Off phenolic flavors mesh with an artificial sweetener and prune note. No wheat malt crispness, nor spice nuance. Apparent fusels, sugary, under attenuated, astringent. Terrible!
