Commercial Description:
Sam Adams Imperial White pushes the boundaries of a witbier. While the brew delivers orange and coriander notes typical of a witbier, it has a bigger mouthfeel and body. It is truly a unique brew.

Bottle: A hazy orange pour with a modest sand colored head. Smells rich with coriander, orange peel, citrus fruits, and malt. Even a bit of bubblegum. Damn. After the initial aroma I thought this had serious potential. I can’t get past the cloying and dark fruity trainwreck of a taste. Somewhat medicinal too. Blah. It sucks even more when something smells so nice then tastes so bad.

Bottle from Brown Derby in Springfield, MO. Pours dark yellow with brown tones, small head. Smells of monk basement. Tastes of honey, syrup with orange backlash. Ends with a slightly warm alcohol, but not overpowering. Sticky and thick.

12 oz. bottle. Orange-copper pour with a thin white head. Aroma of vanilla and oranges. Taste of yeast, spices, vanilla and alcohol. Full mouthfeel, almost syrupy finish. Decent for a dessert beer, as another reviewer stated though, this is a strong ale all the way.

Bottle pours a slightly hazed orange copper amber with a decent head, no lace. The aroma is yeasty and orange. The flavor is orange and coriander juice. The palate is rich and thick. This is quite the over the top interpretation. I could see enjoying this on its own as not per style. I’m conflicted since I can drink it and enjoy it, but this is no Wit. I’m glad the site has it listed as a BSA.

7:28pm 4/10/09, BP offline, could this be the day Beerpal dies...??? ... .. . . pours with a big white head, overflows... great lacing .. . some perfume and cloying berry sweetness in the nose ... . no one make s a fool of mort goldman!! .. .. first sip: fuck1 oh jesus, oh god oh god... this is gonna be a trek, a hike up everest in winter during a hurricane with broken legs and being blind while carring a box of watermelons and being constipated, i could do that before finishing this brew .... pours a light murky gold colour .. very artificial, and extremely hot, being sunburnt on your gingerbread (dick) and it peeling to the bone has less heat than this...like drinking a sweeter DFH fort, or DFH Black+Blue ..but more pussy like, lamer, wiener... brews like a sting song remixed by kenny g with vocals by that bitch who married that beatle, yokono?? .. . needs serious work to be just drinkable without wincing .. i am so happy i actually got through this, took about an hour, but i am happy because i will never ever have to drink this perfumed gasoline with foam ... the first huge let down from my boys at boston ... i need some of this just to make me stop thinking of this brew ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rBpD8vSZgoU

Pours a cloudy amber with minimal head. Hints of orange in both aroma and tastes. Can taste the alcohol in a pleasant way. First Imperial Series from Samuel Adams that I have tried, picked up several others, hope that they are like this one, recommend.

12oz bottle from BOTW. Pours a deeper amber than a normal white. Very little head. Aroma is sweet and spicy, not as dry as a straight wheat/white. The spiciness and some alcohol appear in the flavors. When I drink a white beer, I’m looking for refreshment and crispness. This beer has neither. Its sticky sweet and the spices don’t work for me. Disappointing.
