Can taste the alcohol in a pleasant way. First Imperial Series from Samuel Adams that I have tried, picked up several others, hope that they are like this one, recommend. | 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 6/20 | Apr 9, 2009 12oz bottle from BOTW. Pours a deeper amber than a normal white. Very little head. Aroma is sweet and spicy, not as dry as a straight wheat/white. The spiciness and some alcohol appear in the flavors. When I drink a white beer, I’m looking for refreshment and crispness. This beer has neither. Its sticky sweet and the spices don’t work for me. Disappointing. steview (902), Los Angeles, California, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 8, 2009 hazy copper-orange body with average off-white head; sweet, earthy, and spicy aroma; sugary and resiny with caramel; no strong notes that would be typical in white ales (e.g., orange and coriander or banana); creamy mouthful; good. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 8, 2009 Bottle. Pours with a small white head over a hazed deep amber body (in no way looks like a wit). Good retention. Aroma of banana, vanilla, alcohol, more alcohol, clove and CO2. Taste is alcohol (but for me in a sort of enjoyable way), clove, phenols, a rye like spiciness, light diacetyl, with a herbal finish. Light carbonation. A pretty good Boston Beer Company beer... angrypirate06 (781), Texas, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 7, 2009 12 oz. bottle from Plaza Liquors - Pours a hazy amber color with a one and a half finger thick off white head. Light lacing. Aroma is sweet spice and light oranges. Flavor is sweet, almost cloying. Medium to full body. It would be nice if this beer was a tad bit dryer. Worth a try. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 7, 2009 Pours a decent amber orange color with a long lasting off white head. Aroma is oranges, and a bit of spice, but mostly oranges. Flavor is big and thick. Lots of citrus, malt and some yeast. Reminded me of a Belgian Triple minus the Belgian yeast. Interesting. The best of the Sam Adams Imperials, but that’s not saying a whole lot.
