| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Sep 19, 2009 This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a small sized head of foamy finely sized tan colored bubbles that were long lasting and left behind a transparent typically carbonated orange colored body and an excellent lacing. The aroma was malty and mild spice. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish with a mellow hoppy aftertaste. The flavor contained notes of malt mild hops and mild spice. An OK brew just nothing special. Berley31 (198), New Brunswick, Canada
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 19, 2009 A: Poured with a small, white, fizzy head that diminished quickly to thin film. Body is a dark orange (almost brown) color, not what I’d expect from a wit, and quite cloudy. Leaves some light lacing on the sides of the glass.
S: Great aroma... you can smell the fruit (especially the orange), as well as some light hops. There’s also an underlying scent of the alcohol, but it fits perfectly with everything else.
T: Everything you can smell comes out very well in the taste of the beer... orange and coriander flavor, like most wits, but with a slight bitter, hoppy finish. The alcohol also comes through, but is not overpowering at all (hidden quite well, really, for a <10% abv beer) and warms the throat as it goes down.
M: Excellent mouthfeel, as it is quite full-bodied, with a slick and creamy texture. Average to soft carbonation.
D: I really enjoyed this beer, my first imperial white. Deceptive in its strength, the high alcohol doesn’t inhibit drinking more than one of these babies, and the taste isn’t overly sweet and spicy like some wits can be. craftbeerdesign (768), Alpharetta, Georgia, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Sep 13, 2009 shared bottle... pours a very deep orange hue with a good amount of haze, yeast and an an average white head... really nice depth... big citrus and spice on the nose with a touch of apple... big mouthfeel, almost chewy... really nice up front with spice, orange and light fruit... very smooth and soft over the palate... big finish with the alcohol coming forward followed by more citrus. this is an explosive witbier and is imperial in every way... really enjoyed this one. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 7, 2009 12oz bottle from Orland Park Binny’s single rack. Pours hazy orangish amber with small white head. Aroma is wheat, candied sugar, orange, malt and spices. Flavor is sweet malt, candied sugars, wheat, orange, spices and malt. A little thick and syrupy as how a lot of imperial wits tend to turn out. Not that bad but not that enjoyable.
