Commercial Description:
Sam Adams Imperial White pushes the boundaries of a witbier. While the brew delivers orange and coriander notes typical of a witbier, it has a bigger mouthfeel and body. It is truly a unique brew.

Pours a cloudy caramel-orange. Creamy head. Aroma is bold and citrusy. Flavor is fruity, and strong. This beer could certainly pass for a Belgian. Strong, sweet, orange-plum hints. Delicious.

aroma of very sweet malt, alcohol and caramel - hazy copper pour with tight white lacy foam - the first taste that hits you is the alcohol which is followed by a very sweet malty/brown sugar/candied apple taste. Lingering aftertaste is almost that of a caramel apple. Too sweet for my taste, I like the other Sam Adams Imperials a lot more than this one.

Pours hazy golden amber with a nice off white head. Aroma is light wheat with hints of spices. Flavor is big and malty, with flavors of wheat, orange, and spice. not bad.

Cloudy, almost opaque orange/amber with a small white head. Aroma of wheat, orange zest, coriander. Flavor is spicy and tangy: citrus, coriander, yeasty bread. Big alcohol presence and a pleasant warmth. Full bodied with a bittersweet finish. Smooth and buttery on the palate. Very good.

12oz bottle purchased at The Liquor Shop in Tyngsborro, Mass. Pours a hazy but clear red-amber with a short lived inch of off-white head that leaves some good lacing. Banana, clove, nut, spice all characterize the aroma, more reminiscent of a hefeweizen than a witbier really. Fruity sweet at first, with banana, nut, clove, pith, and a touch of citrus and some alcohol warming at the finish. Rich full body with moderate carbonation. A tasty smooth beer this is - a witbier or any sort of amped-up witbier this is not. Reminds me of a spiced hefeweizen. I like it though, and it’s way better than Samuel Adams White, and one of Samuel Adams’ better beers IMO. Not reviewing this for the style.

This one poured a cloudy orange color with a decent sized eggshell head. Aroma was wheat, yeast, spices and alcohol. Flavor was a big hit of alcohol followed by lots of sweetness, some spices and then a very hot swallow. Once again, another style that should not be imperialized.

Bottle. Heavy malt aromas of cookie and cereal, moderate orange and dough for the hops and yeast with prune, toffee, honey and alcohol in the background. Head is small, wispy, white with a small ring of thin lacing and is fully diminishing. Color is murky, orange/brown. Flavor starts moderately to heavily sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes moderately sweet, lightly acidic and a touch salty. Palate is on the fuller side of medium, oily, with a soft carbonation and has a moderately alcoholic finish. Tilting towards the the sweet side, but everything in this beer is large. Not really true to the style, but a really nice Witbier.

poured a murky copper color with short-lived 2 finger white head. aroma of orange, lemon, coriander, bread. medium mouth feel, spices, rock candy, fruit, yeast, banana. warm going down and very low carbonation. a witbier that’s a bit over the top, but that’s what the brewer was going for! very interesting to try.
