Copper colored body. Aroma of dirt (earth) and malt. Flavor is malty and hoppy with a hit of hazelnut and nutmeg. Finish is bitter.

Dec 18, 2009 Bottle. Poured a clear garnet color with an off white head. Smelled of spicy malt, plum, subdued husky grain, and raisin. Light to medium bodied and slightly sweet. Tasted of corn syrup, caramel, and raisin. Eh. Not all that enjoyable.

Dec 6, 2009 Has a dark, rusty red color coupled with a thin cream head. A soft hop aroma greets the nose followed by flavors of apple and caramel. The body is on the thin side and a bit too watery. However, the tingling, dry finish is quite excellent. The ale’s balance of sweetness in the malts and bitterness in the hops is well executed. Overall, a good beer that feels like it had potential to be even better.

Dec 6, 2009 12 ounce bottle in pint glass. Red with dense beige ring. Earthy toasted brown sugar and ripe fruit aroma. Toasted caramel brown sugar with sweet cranberry juice fruitiness and earthy medium bitter hop finish. Medium body. My first Irish ale rating. Guess, I’ll try to avoid them in the future.

Nov 27, 2009 12 oz bottle. Pours a dark red color with an off white foamy head. Light carbonation and some lacing. Aroma is sweet caramel malt, fruit and touch of hops. Firm, reach, slightly oily body. Flavor is juicy, sweet caramel malt, fruit perfectly balanced by earthy hops. Finish becomes dry and earthy. I like this beer a lot.

Nov 24, 2009 Pours a deep clear reddish color with a light tan head. Aroma is caramel, malt, touch of hops, alcohol. Flavor is caramel, sugars, alcohol, touch of hop bitterness, rasins or some other dark fruit. Decent Irish Red.

Nov 21, 2009 12 ounce bottle. Earthy, light caramel aroma. Deep vibrant red color. Very minimal head which disappears immediately. LIght body with a quite thin texture. Substantial malt flavor with little to no bitterness and a lasting malt finish. Another nice, sessionable and malty brew from Sam Adams.
