Saw this in the store for the past month and a half and finally bought a six pack of it. Unlike most people, I am not opposed in the slightest to drinking Sam Adams beers because sometimes they come out with a decent beer. This one pours out dark brown to red color with a thick brown head on it. Sweet, full of caramel, malty, not many hops present, but still, an easy drinking smooth beer. Not bad, I would drink it again.

Jul 17, 2008 Poured from a 12oz bottle and served in a Guinness pint glass. This beer poured a slightly hazy copper red with a lasting head of creamy beige foam. A good amount of thick lacing was left around the glass. The aroma of the beer was made up of chewy caramel, bread, and a hint of dark fruit. Nice and malty. The flavor included caramel, toasted bread, a light note of fruit, and a faint trace of metal in the finish. Just a hint of hop bitterness at the end. The mouthfeel was medium-bodied with moderate carbonation. Really not too bad for an Irish ale.

I may need to drink more Irish Reds to better my palate but for the time being, I am not very impressed.

Jul 14, 2008 There are other reds in the world that will give you more pleasure. However, if it’s July 4th and you’re craving a good American Red, tackle this one.

Jul 13, 2008 Pours red into a shaker. Caramel malt aromas. Full, soft caramel from front to back with a slight hop finish.

Jul 12, 2008 Bottle. Pours red. Taste like cheap macro crap. Smells the same. Sorry Sammy, you should produce a better Irish if you want to be considered a good beer.
