Commercial Description:
This rich and malty ale originated in Ireland in 1710. It has a deep red color and distinctive caramel flavor from its Pale and Caramel malts. The malt sweetness is balanced by the earthy notes of East Kent Goldings hops. Cheers!

Reddish-brown in color with a thick, light-tan head that is mostly diminishing. Sweet, caramelly aroma, a bit of nuttiness, and earthy mustiness. Rather sweet flavor initially, some brown sugar and caramel, turning slightly to moderately bitter and a touch smoky. Upon further sips, the sweetness becomes more subdued as the subtly spicy hops lend an earthy, peaty "freshness" (for lack of a better word). Finish is mildly sweet, moderately bitter and slightly metallic. Moderately carbonated, perhaps just a touch too much. Overall, highly drinkable.

Pours burgundy with a 2 finger eggshell head that last a few minutes. Aroma: Caramel malt, nutmeg, spicy sweet breads, metal shavings, earthyness and a little floral hops. Flavor: Caramel malts, dark spiced rum, cedar?, earthy and bitter hops, alcohol and that strange metalic tone that I always seem to find in Reds. Palate is on the thick side but not too sticky. Overall a decent beer, especially good with a big meat and potatoes meal or meaty pasta.

It comes out of the bottle an appetizing clear mahogany brown, rather a dark coppery color, with a respectable but not persistent head. Aroma is malty with hints of spice, hops and treacle. Flavor is mouth-filling and has a nice balance of hops and malt; bitterness is minimal and nicely complements the subtle sweetness. There is also a touch of spice. Mouthfeel is fairly smooth and tingly. Enjoy.

12 oz bottle. Pours a reddish copper with moderate white crown that has moderate retention and spotty lacing. Aroma is full of caramel malt with a characteristic earth odour. Flavour begins with sweet malt giving way to a bit of hop bitterness at the end, causing a semi-dry finish. Very well balanced, in my opinion, for the pricepoint. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied with a slight bit of creaminess from the mild carbonation. One of the better irish reds I’ve had, considering I’ve only had a few so far.

Pours a coppery red color. Small white head that lasted briefly. Lacing present on the glass. Smells of malt. Watery flavor of roasted malt and light yeast. Not a bad Irish Red.

12 oz bottle from mix pack. Earthy hop with touch of fruitiness over roast and caramelized malts. Clear deep ruby with moderate off-white head. Big caramelized malt flavor with some dark sugar and moderate bitterness. Medium body and mouthfeel. Relatively dry bitter finish. Nicely balanced. A bit robust for the style but tasty.
