Yea I know the costs for Sam Adams brewing this stuff but if you are offering a homebrew competitiion for best brew I really find it hard to believe this was one of the best. For a homebrewer in CO how about choke-cherries or huckleberries, anything besides a yogurt flavor. I am sure this was an economic decision and it is not a bad beer but "best of the best"? Not by a longshot! TURDFERGUSON (1603), Carrboro, North Carolina, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Mar 29, 2007 Pour is pale and golden. Small head that fades fast. Not my favorite smell at all. Smell is very berry--very bath and body works, fruity pebbles and captain crunch. Flavor is a bit more refined, with cereal still lingering (though intended) and the "berry" flavor riding shotgun. A little tartness and acidity peak in, but just for a minute. Finish isn’t horrible, but the aroma just ruined this one for me. Discofish (152), USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 27, 2007 Pours a pale cloudy amner. Fruity nose of raspberry and cherry. Strong cherry/craspberry flavor and finishes smooth. Nejhleader (929), Lemoyne, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 26, 2007 is a pretty decent brew. I like the style, i just wasn’t a huge fan of the boysenberry? which tasted like blueberry to me. Had a sweet blueberry aroma, citrusy body with a splash of a blueberrish taste, I guess that was the boysenberry. Soonah (945), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Mar 26, 2007 Had high hopes initially. The pour was a cloudy pale copper with a nearly two-finger white head. Minimal lacing. Initially the aroma was Fruity Pebbles. Basically artifical fruit and a bit of wheat. The flavor was tart fruit and malt. Acidic. As it opened up it lost steam in a hurry. Went from being a fun distraction to borderline tedious. I applaud the effort but will probably give the other one of these I have to my brother-in-law. sersdf (1000), chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 26, 2007 orange/light brown and opaque. hard to get any head though. aroma emanates pretty quickly and far. bottle smells of the IHOP boysenberry syrup actually. glass too, pretty good, if one-dimensional. tastes like beer, which is nice for a fruit beer, though it turns into pure fruit for the finish. pretty simple. i could see someone calling it artificial, but most fruit beers do have that quality. i’m sure it’s made with extract, but i don’t mind it. definitely more drinkable than the abhorrent dortmunder. a bit lacking in flavor. | 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Mar 26, 2007 Updated: Aug 27, 2007Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a fizzy pale golden color with a large yellow-white head. The aroma was fairly strong berry jam. The flavor was fairly strong sugary berry jam. There was barely any "beer" like body to this one. The fruit presence tasted very artificial. Still a decently quaffable brew if you are in to super sweet fruit beers. bb (2919), Martinez, California, USA
