Created by Ken Smith, Colorado. Ken describes his brew as having "a refreshing light taste and cereal crispness from the wheat malt." This unfiltered ale has a rich, fresh fruitiness balanced by a citrus note from the Noble hops.

Strong berry aroma. Witbier colored body with a generous head. I didn’t care for this beer. Cloying sweetness, taste of artificial sugar. Yuck. Not a drain pour, but I had trouble finishing this. My non beer geek friends tried this and liked it, maybe I will pawn these off in the future because I thought the Old Ale and Dormunder were good beers. Oh well, can’t win em all.

Pours a beautiful frothy white head, which collapses fairly fast. Very cloudy golden color. The aroma is amazing! And the taste is pretty good too. You get a mouth full of boysenberries when you start drinking. No bitterness when you’re drinking it. Pleasing LIGHT hoppiness on your tongue as an aftertaste. Its more of a fruit beer unless you treat it like a wheat beer and swirl a bittle beer in the bottle and then pour the hefe yeast into the glass. Then its not as fruity in the taste, and you get a bit of the yeast in the mouth, plus its a heavier mouthfeel. Too bad they don’t sell this as a six-pack by itself. James Spencer (Basic Brewing podcast) interviewed the dude that made this recipe. He’s an employee of Sam Adams. Anyways, its an EXTRACT recipe!!

So that is what a boysenberry tastes like! I truly wanted to hate this beer, but I couldn’t. It actually is quite good. Maybe better as the mercury climbs, but enjoyable right now. slight fruity, berry, grapey notes to aroma and on the palate Backed by a solid, crisp whaet ale.

Hazy golden in color with a small quickly diminishing head. Aroma is quite fruity with notes of cereal. Flavor is malty, some wheat presense, citrus, slightly astringent. Finish is crisp and fruity. I usually despise fruit beers but this one was well, pretty good.

Strong boysenberry aroma with scents of malt. Cloudy golden color with a xmall white head that doesn’t fade. Subtle Start to the taste that finishes nicely with berries. Good mouth feel, not to watery or thick.

Well, my wife really liked it! I thought the aroma was a bit on the artificial side, leaning to blueberry as much as boysenberry, but the flavor had an up-front blend of fruit and wheat that gave way to a bit heavy sweetness. The palate was lively, substantial carbonation with a sticky body. Really not bad at all.
