Created by Ken Smith, Colorado. Ken describes his brew as having "a refreshing light taste and cereal crispness from the wheat malt." This unfiltered ale has a rich, fresh fruitiness balanced by a citrus note from the Noble hops.

12oz bottle. Golden orange color with a medium sized rocky white head. Powerful car air freshner boysenberry aroma. Syrupy boysenberry flavor with a slightly grainy wheat character peering through. Residual boysenberry and artificial sweetner in the finish, with straw and a slight herbal tone. Mouthfeel is light, somewhat soft.

Samuel Adams LongShot Boysenberry Wheat 12 oz bottle. Medium pour in a shaker. Best before 06/07, picked 02/07 Poured a hazy straw yellow with a medium to large white frothy mostly lasting head. Smelt of strong boysenberry, similar to blueberries and raspberries, and moderate floweriness. Taste was upfront moderate bitter and sweet boysenberry and bitter perfume hops followed by a strong bitter cheese, banana flowers and dough yeast and moderate sweet and sour boysenberry on a long finish. Palate was light to medium bodied, oily and soft, lively carbonated and lightly astringent. Overall, a great boysenberry taste and smell on a rich wheat canvas.

One of the less exciting frut beers I’ve had lately. Did I say exciting and fruit beer in the same sentence? I didn’t mean that either. It smells like unripe blueberries, tastes like some sort of red berry and ends up really watery. The best thing about this stuff is its appearance. A bit hazy and has nice lacing.

A slightly hazed orangey gold (becoming rather hazed with the sediment addition) with a thin big bubbled head. The nose is strong with "boysenberry" I guess. It smells like a candle to me, but one of those candles that smells like you could actually eat it, as strange as that sounds. Of course it smells a bit wheaty, but none of the esters really seem to break free of that strong raspberry like berry smell. The palate is flat-out straight wheat, with a bit of graininess to it, giving some substance, which is nice. The flavor is lively, and big on the fruit. I’m not a huge fruit beer guy, but this isn’t half bad. Big boysenberry sweetness with some very wheaty qualities. The grainy points linger as does some of the fruit’s acidity. This is balanced, and not bad, I could drink a lot of this at a sitting, but I’d probably get sick of boysenberry after a beer or two.

Second in the box I picked up today. Pours out a clouded light yellow color with a white head on it. Smell is really fruity and really interesting. I have never tasted a boysenberry before, so I have no idea how close this is to the real thing. Taste is sweet and fruity and very light. Sadly the taste does not live up to the amazing smell that this beer produces. It is a good beer, and this pack has certainly impressed me much more than those god awful colonial beer reproductions they did earlier last year.

Definitely a wheat beer in appearance. Hazy gold in color. Nose reminds me of red sherbert for some reason. Very floral. Flavor is more of the floral notes. Low malts and the wheat is not as heavy as I would have thought. Kind of a slight hop tang too. Medium body but with an expansive acidity that helps the flavors linger

12oz bottle in a pilsener glass. Has a sugar cereal taste. Not a bad beer if it didn’t have the boysenberry.

Pours a cloudy golden color with a lacing head. The aroma is awesome. Nice fruit aroma, that is very noticeable. Berry flavor with a hint of malt. This is actually a real fruit beer. Impressive flavor. I think it’s blueberries but I am not sure.
