Commercial Description:
Created by Ken Smith, Colorado. Ken describes his brew as having "a refreshing light taste and cereal crispness from the wheat malt." This unfiltered ale has a rich, fresh fruitiness balanced by a citrus note from the Noble hops.

Bottle, BB June ’07. Poured a very slightly hazy medium golden with a nice little cap of white head and lots of rising carbonation. The aroma took me back to Fruit Roll-ups as a kid, which I loved.. sweet mixed berries over a mild wheaty tartness. Flavor had a tart, citrusy foray onto the palate with grainy cereal and berries washing nicely over the tongue (Crunchberries with a shot of alcohol, anyone?).. tasty stuff! Lighter-bodied and a bit too grainy on the palate at times.. mild tartness played well.. refreshing. This is one that I would re-visit. Prost, Mr. Smith!

bottle: a slightly cloudy golden colour with a very large white fluffy head. aroma slaps you in the face with fresh berries very very sweet. flavour is not as berry as youwould think from th enose, but is defenitly there with some wheat. it is a little thin and watery.

12 oz. brown, longneck bottle. Best before June 2007? Poured out a clear golden yellow color, with a thin tan colored head. Aromas are of berries, definitely. Slight malt aromas as well. Flavors are of berries mostly. Perfume sweetness dominate the flavors. Finishes sweet. Decent mouthfeel, medium body. Best fruit beer I’ve had to date.

Bottle. Small white head that mostly diminished, lacked any real amount of lacing, transparent, golden hue, and visible carbonation. Nose was very, very sweet, berries, citrus, and sour. Flavor was tart, sweet, berries, citrus and dry finish. Mouthfeel was slightly tingly and dry. Light body. Sickingly sweet IMMHO. Too much berry flavor.

Rated 2/8/07: Cloudy rich golden pour with an orange tint, nice foamy white head and thick lacing. Initial aroma is of tart berries followed by dry wheat. Crisp refreshing feel here, slightly thick with a light syrup feel. Flavor is amazingly balanced for a fruit beer. The tangy and tart berry flavor is easily detected but it doesn’t dominate. It hits with a nice burst at first but leads way to a nice typical American Wheat base. Good dry malt, hops aren’t readily detected but I’m sure they help keep the balance in this beer. Overall it’s very good for a fruit beer, I enjoyed a couple and that’s about my limit with this style.

Cloudy orange color with a medium thick and fluffy off-white head that dissipates slowly. Spotty lacing. Sweet berry and malt aroma. Light, crisp body with a tart fruit character. Boysenberry is propped up by some malt and wheat flavors. The finish is clean and fruity with touches of wheat and mild hops. Overall the beer is slightly above average, and despite not being a brew I would seek out again, it is nice to see a mainstream brewer introducing unique styles like this.
