Commercial Description:
Created by Ken Smith, Colorado. Ken describes his brew as having "a refreshing light taste and cereal crispness from the wheat malt." This unfiltered ale has a rich, fresh fruitiness balanced by a citrus note from the Noble hops.

Pours a slight-hazed, mid-golden body under an everlasting, creamy white head. Big berry aroma reminds me of a big bowl of red Jell-O. Not much can permeate that besides a faint note of sour, grassy hops. Wheaty cereal grains come out in the flavor to hold up the tart fruitiness. Mild alcohol notes can be sensed late. Full and creamy in the mouth, this turns out to be a satisfying fruit beer... for all you satisfying-fruit-beer lovers. Congratulations to Mr. Smith (who kinda looks like a chubby Bruce Campbell).

Boysenberry plays a strong role here, but the most surprising element is the hops. The wheat opens fairly routinely, but the boysenberry and hops command the finish. Taste is similar to black currant and texture is great for the taste.

Bottle sampled on 3/14/07: Sweet, fruity floral berry aroma has some wheaty undertones. Pours a cloudy light golden with a thin, wispy coating of white head. Body starts thinner and lightly sweet with a sweet berry candy flavor toward a thin, crisp finish. An interesting beer that’s better than I expected.

Heavy berry presence in the nose, but not much sawdusty wheat; a big plus. Pours a hazy honey blonde with a slight sparkle. The generous creamy tight white head appears from a lavish cascade, and leaves a light lace behind. The brew starts with a balanced front. Light tart citrus notes and a decent acidic bite in the middle lead to a brief clean finish. The light body is creamy and soft. Overall a very refreshing brew with superb balance. This longshot contest for home brewers is a brilliant idea; and just another reason to love Boston Brewing.

Another good showing in the Longshot series. A fruity sweet nose, juicy boysenberries, light craker notes. Flavors is a nice combonation of berry juice and crackers with a lingering berry finish. A good beer for sure.

12 oz bottle. Pours hazy golden color with white head. Aroma of sweet berrys. Taste of berrys and middle wheat with dry after taste.

Nice wheat flavor with berry overtones. Very similar to the Cherry Wheat. Came in a LongShot six pack with the Old Ale and Dortmunder.

Bottle as pictured. Nice straw yellow colored brew with a quickly disipating white bubbly head. Big berry aromas hit your nose immediatley. First taste revealed that this was a flavored wheat beer. Grain and malt was most prevalent taste. The sweet boysenberry flavor is reserved for the aftertaste like dessert. As a rule, I am not a fruit beer fan. However, this one wasn’t too bad. Congrats to Colorado’s Ken Smith for making it possible for me to actually enjoy a fruit beer.
