Commercial Description:
Bruce describes his classic German-style lager as "pale gold in color with a blend of Pilsner maltiness and a mild hops aroma. The bitterness is just enough to balance the taste of the malt." Bruce is a former music teacher who began homebrewing 13 years ago when his wife gave him a kit for Christmas. He has since become an accomplished homebrewer and shares his knowledge and passion for beer by teaching classes in homebrewing and beer appreciation.

Pours a clear golden color with a lacing white head. Thick malt springs from the aroma. Blend of light malt, hops, and some citrus in the flavor. Actually, a very good blend and balance. Some dryness at the end of it. Better than i expected!

Nice golden/light amber color.Small white head that had a short hang time then faded quickly to leave a slight lace behind. The aroma was mildly fruity some slight graininess and maybe a hint of hops in the back ground. The flavor was macroish pretty much. Some light fruity notes up front then it swiftly changes to some graininess and a bit of caramel then a slight hoppy bite in the end.It finishes up mildly bitter/sweet.I guess compared to some macro’s it’s fairly good, but as far as does it fit with what i’m used to tasting from SA it does not fit.Still over all it’s not bad, just seems more like a AB beer then an SA beer.

The aroma contained a light bit of diacetyl and a sizeable amount of DMS. Light caramel was present with just a hint of spicy hops. Most of the aroma was diacetyl and DMS. The beer poured crystal clear pale golden with a low white persistent head which did last enough to lace the glass. The flavor was quite crisp and bitte, perhaps a bit too much so. Caramel (light) was present to balance the hops, but in the end the hops won the battle. The diacetyl in the aroma was cancelled by hop flavor, but some of the DMS remained. The body was medium with a nice crispness on the palate. The finish was dry with a lasting flavor of spicy hops into the aftertaste. A nice beer, nothing too exciting however. 12 ounce bottle.

12oz bottle. Brilliant gold color with a large rocky white head. Delicate floral hops in the aroma, with grainy malt and a buttery undertone. Fairly rich maltiness with an acrid herbal hop component. Resdiual doughy butteriness in the finish, with a crisp end note. Mouthfeel is light, somewhat dry.

Bottle. Interesting beer, and of course I buy anything from Sam Adams upon seeing, because they do make quality beer, its just not as good as alesmith, but its good stuff. Anyway this whole series intrigued me so I was glad to see it on the shelf today. Pours dark yellow in color with a thick white head on it. Smell is crisp and full of hops and grassy notes. Some straw too. Taste is smooth and refreshing, some kind of biscuit malt used possibly. Very good stuff, too bad this doesnt come in six packs. Really interesting, stuck to the glass all the way down too. Nice!

Such a wierd style. I’ve always considered it the bastard child of a pilsener and a maibock. Lots of similar qualities of both but missing other qualities. Heavily carbonated as lots of good-sized carbonation bubbles rise quickly to the surface. Beer is a solid gold in color. Much akin to many maibocks. Slight white head that dissolves to a ring around the edges of the glass. Nose is lightly malty with just a slight hint of hops. Flavor is fairly straightforward. Nice biscuit breadiness to the malts. Rather pilsener-ish with the hops providing just a slight bitterness. Then there is a maibock fruitiness that swee

12oz bottle in a tulip glass. Semi-sweet grainy beer with a full body. Very typical dortmunder.
