Commercial Description:
Bruce describes his classic German-style lager as "pale gold in color with a blend of Pilsner maltiness and a mild hops aroma. The bitterness is just enough to balance the taste of the malt." Bruce is a former music teacher who began homebrewing 13 years ago when his wife gave him a kit for Christmas. He has since become an accomplished homebrewer and shares his knowledge and passion for beer by teaching classes in homebrewing and beer appreciation.

Light gold color with a thin head. A little bit of a moldy grain aroma. The taste is very strong with raw grains. Not sweet at all, but very little hop bitterness. Pretty okay.

Pours a light golden, clear with a lively bead of carbonation and a foamy white head. Aroma is lightly hoppy with nobles, spicy and earthy, mineral-like, and slightly crackery with the malt. Very light mineral/metallic in the flavor and is dominated by a wierd sugary artificial sweetness throughout. Modest hop character and smooth, but I couldnt get past the unusual sweetness not characteristic of the style. Close, but not really there.

Pours clear gold with a frothy white head. The aroma has a maltiness that is between a pils and caramel along with some spice and unfortunately some buttery diacetyl. Medium body with a fair amount of sharp carbonation. The flavor starts out with spicy hops in the forefront, pils-like malt, light diacetyl and a bit of mustiness. The finish has even more spicy hops in the mix. A decent attempt at a dortmunder. However without the diacetyl I imagine this would have been a very good beer. One more to go from the longshot series.

Unfortunately had this a little bit too warm, but ok. Definitely has a little graininess. Not blown away, but certainly better than the average lager.
