Aroma was sulfery yeast with some grainy malts. Taste was light with a small bitterness and malt flavor. Can’t beleve that this beer won, must have been better as a homebrew. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 17, 2007 Pours a very clear pale golden color, wit a one finger head that fades slowly to a a pretty nice cap, leaving behind a thikc webbing of lace.
Smell; very biscuity malt aroma, and a toch on the sweet side. It’s also a bit grainy with some hints of floral and herbal hops in the background.
Taste; the grains stand out even more in the flavor than they did in the aroma, followed by the bready malts. The floral/herbal hops are noticeable in the finish (especially after burping), and finishes a tad on the dry side. This is pretty good, even though I’m not a big fan of the style. It would be very easy to have a few of these in a night.
Mouthfeel/Drinkability; mouthfeel is medium bodied, which is a bit thicker than I was expecting, but it was a pleasant surprise. Drinkability is really good. thegreenrooster (1852), St.louis, Missouri, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 16, 2007 Pour is a golden with a white head. Aroma is malty and biscuity. Flavor is clean tasting with both malts and hops making an appearence. Pretty flavorful for the style but the style is its crutch. The style never really overwhelms so the beer does not make heads turn. Still this is one to try to sample the style. BenDover (130), Texas, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Feb 15, 2007 Faint aroma of cat piss. Clear yellow, faint head. Tastes a bit like a dirty sock, which thankfully is better than it smells. I can’t believe others like it so much. brewblackhole (1386), Muskego, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 15, 2007 A very heavy grainey ,biscuity, malt hop aroma, taste is pretty much the same, seemed to have a thick, almost syrupy mouthfeel at first, but balanced out nicely in the finish, this is about as authentic a German brew as I have tasted, the rich yet balanced malt/hop flavor was terriffic eboats (901), Omaha, Nebraska, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 15, 2007 Pours honey colored with a white head. Aroma is crisp mild herbal hops and bread. Light and refreshing. Decent body. Flavor is sweet malt, bread, and toasted notes. Very simple, yet still enjoyable. SledgeJr (3004), Omaha, Nebraska, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 14, 2007 In the bottle from Beertopia. Pours a cloudy deep dark gold with a benign white head. This was my least favorite of the Longshot series this year. Not a bad beer, mind you, just in the shadow of the very flavorful other two. I suppose that this is likely a difficult style for me and many others to appreciate, due to the lack of examples out there from which to compare. Bready and sweet with plenty of malt, this just did not draw upon anything dominant other than a feeling that it was very well-made and rich compared to the other commercial beers of this ilk. ford9719 (369), Vilseck, Germany
