Commercial Description:
While there is a great malty foundation to this brew, Mike’s Double IPA showcases his appreciate for hops. In fact, he included seven different varieties of American hops, totaling over six pounds of hops per barrel. The hops add an intense floral and citrus aroma to this brew.

6 pack with 3 different types of beers. 12 oz. Picked up at a convenience store that would probably never show up on Ratebeer off of Argonne and 5th street in Midtown Atlanta. Anyways, I don’t like the fact that Samuel Adams is getting credit for this one, but they did put this guys face on a bottle of theirs. I just want to make sure I am rating Mike’s beer, and not Samuel Adams beer. Nice thin head sits on top of a nice dark orange with a light brown hue body. This beer looks great. Nice crisp citrus aroma. Very nice aroma actually, jeez. Very aromatic brew. Now if only Samuel Adams would have brewed this by themselves? Malt flavor balances out the citrus flavor almost perfectly. It (the malt flavor) is there at first, and then the sharp, crisp, and citrusy hop flavor just hits your tongue like a train. Ah very delicious brew indeed. Nice smooth palate. The citrus hops are just so fresh tasting it is insance. An amazing beer. Cheers!

Favorite one out of the 3-pack! Small head, dark yellow in color. Hoppy aroma with citrus. Definitely hit with the hops in the finish, which was a little rough.

Pours amber with a white head. Smells of c hops. Tastes resiny and citrussy with a nice bitter finish. I’m glad this finally saw distribution.

I love the longshot beers. Giving homebrewers a chance to get their beer out there. This beer you can taste the hops, but not over powering. This was the best of all three 2008 longshots that i tried.

Bottle, courtesy of and shared with Blankboy. Dark hazy yellow, small white head. Nice hoppy aroma - oily, juicy. . Taste is a little harsh - I get lots of cascade and centennial, really hop forward. Citrus and sweet mix is very nice, but the finish is rough. Good effort though.

batallion of hop style, lead by a citrusness of c-hops. Very drinkable, good rep for the style. Hop aroma, above average mouthfeel, and fruity colour and lace. Complex taste, not too ahrsh, and the alcohol kicks in quickly. Mixed six-pack.

An extremely interesting beer, with attributes all over. I’m giving a high overall score as, well, it’s a homebrew and it’s damn good. Not much on the nose, yet, beautiful shady orange color with strong, almost rye-ish, IPA flavor. This is beyond crisp without overwhelming hop bitterness. A half-step away from world class, and something Sam should brew normally.

Cloudy amber with a generous head that dissipated to a solid film and left nice lacing. VERY strong citrus and resinous hops aromas - and a VERY strong rye smell that sneaks up after the initial hops blast. I need some pastrami and spicy mustard. Big grapefruit hops flavor, very bitter, with the rye coming through in the end again. Medium body, high carbonation, and a bitter, oily, kind of soapy aftertaste. Interesting, just a bit over the top.
