Commercial Description:
While there is a great malty foundation to this brew, Mike’s Double IPA showcases his appreciate for hops. In fact, he included seven different varieties of American hops, totaling over six pounds of hops per barrel. The hops add an intense floral and citrus aroma to this brew.

(bottle) amber-gold with off white head. Aroma of pine, citrus. Flavor is pine, citrus/fruit (really not grapefruit to me). Resin-y as some have noted. Nice malt backbone.

Great combination of heavy malt foundation and hops. It doesn’t hold back on any flavor! This is an excellent Double IPA!

12 oz bottle from Enniskillen that he got from Country Club Liquors. Nose is light floral and piney hops along with a strange graham cracker maltiness. Hazy orange with a big beige head. Flavor is pretty bitter over a malty background. Finish is long lasting bitterness.

Nice strong hop aroma, strong sugared pink grapefruit notes. Pours a hazy orange, with a cap of off-white head. More of a floral hop taste, with just a touch of bitterness coming through. Hints of citrus and pith are predominant. Very drinkable, long bitter finish, a bit lacking in mouthfeel. Overall, I’m glad to finally have this in my hands after a year long wait.

12 oz bottle: Great hoppy aroma, grapefruit, pine, and overall a very nice aroma. Appearance is a cloudy orangish/amber with a medium sized off white head that lingers. Taste is grapefruit, hop forward, not as bitter as some Impy IPA’s. Lightly sweet and an overall hop characteristic. Nice. I like it. It’s more of a Impy IPA light, not a regular IPA but not a Imperial. Cheers!

12 oz bottle. I did a side by side comparison with Pliney the Elder due to this beer’s reputation as a clone of PtE. This beer tasted more like the PtE clone that I brewed than PtE. Less aromatic, and more bitter than PtE, and a little maltier as well. A very nice DIPA but not in PtE’s league.

This Double IPA pours a nice copper color with a mild head. The nose on this beer does not let you down. Tangerines, herbal, bright floral hops are just a few of the aromas this offers. The taste is very nice as well. Citrus, hops, with a mild body, but great malt balance. Great job Mike McDole!
