Commercial Description:
While there is a great malty foundation to this brew, Mike’s Double IPA showcases his appreciate for hops. In fact, he included seven different varieties of American hops, totaling over six pounds of hops per barrel. The hops add an intense floral and citrus aroma to this brew.

bottle thanks to swalden28. poured a nice gold with an off white head that leaves ample lacing. aroma of caramel, pine, citrus, orange sweet toffee like aroma??? flavor is grass, pine, slight orange?? and floral hops. body is medium-full with low-medium carbonation that feels a little slick over the tongue. not bad really.

The aroma is very hoppy with citrus, pine, yeast, bread, and malt. The appearance is deep amber and hazy with a nice head. The flavor is like the aroma but too astringent. The palate is smooth. Overall a quality beer that just doesn’t taste as good to me as it could.

lots of herbal aroma taste is highly grassy, piny and even a touch soapy. the malts are crisp while there is an overwhelming sensation of hops goodness. touch of wood at the end.

Amber, cloudy, vibrant. Looks nice. Herbal nose with slight papaya...light orangey notes. Minty, tobaccoey herbal hops, start woody and dry. The malts in this one are toasty initially with some residual sweetness in the back. The problem for me is that as this one warms those sticky, chewy malts become dominant. The beer quickly loses all semblance of drinkability. Disappointing.

Lovely looking brew, opaque hazy bright orange. Smells chewy and earthy as opposed to bright and tropical, which would have been my preference. The pineapple hidden in the background is obscured by the chewy earthy dullness. Decent body. Good variety of hop flavors. Too earthy for my personal taste but it’s quaffable enough and hits the hopspot. Pretty cool effort, very American.

Hazy orange with a centimeter of off-white head. Aroma is citrus and pine, which carries intensely into the dry, pithy, almost vinously alcoholic taste with a mild honey component. Mouthfeel is thick with hop oils. $9/6pk

Fits the style beautifully. Big and sticky and thick. You need to be in the mood for something this sweet and hoppy, but it is a very nicely done version.
