Commercial Description:
Created by Samuel Adams Employee Lili Hess, Hawaii This is a very creative spin on a pale ale. As Lili describes it, "It’s like you are drinking a pale ale after biting into a fresh green seedless grape." This delicate brew is light-bodied with unique sweet, yet dry flavors from the grapes. What a combination...

12oz. bottle. Aroma is gently malty, toasty and sweet, with definable hints of the grape and syrup additions showing through and a touch of citric hop. Light-medium golden amber color, clear, with a head that subsides. Flavor is predominantly sweet and malty, sugary and lightly toasted with a fairly strong grape presence throughout, these coupled with a very gentle bitterness and faint grapefruit, caramel and apple. Mouthfeel is thinly acidic and sharp with a light-medium body. As it warms, a distinct maple aftertaste appears. The novelty of this one kind of wears off by the third bottle (no, I didn’t drink them in a row).

12oz bottle notched BB end of Jul 2008. Poured a deeper and clear golden color with a large sized white head. Aromas of grains, grass, light caramel, and some grapes. Tastes of caramel, citrus, and a berry / grapiness.

Depp golden to light amber color with an average head. Nose is very sweet with slight honey caramel, and white wine aromas. Taste is of White wine and pale malts. Hop bitterness is overwhelmed and is nearly non-existant. Lots of carbonation. A good beer for chardonnay drinkers.

Nose is nice and floral with a citrus and caramel kick. Appearance is okay, head disappears too quick(like most/all SamAds). Flavor is quite nice malty, caramels, with a floral/citrus hop character, odd fruit flavor also... grape? Mouthfeel is suprisingly nice, slightly silky but lacks proper bittering for a PA (especially when cooler). Overall an intresting beer I’d have again, but not something to buy regularly. Will trade Lazy Magnolia SP with others. Email/message me.

Clear amber orange, moderate head, pretty good lacing and retention. Aroma is somewhat grapelike with caramel malt and some grassy hops. Aroma to me was more neutral than anything. However, the grape flavor did not work well with what else was here. Quite quaffable, moderate to high carbonation, almost no bitterness, moderate sweetness.

Your standard 12 oz. Samuel Adams bottle, notched freshness date along the left side of the label (July 2008), sampled in a pint glass. L: Clear reddish copper appearance, a frothy pale beige head of fluffy foam, good retention, slowly settled into a thin creamy lacing. Rings of splotchy lace follows the body down the glass as I consume it. S: Light white grape juiciness, toasted caramel and maple, touches of grainy bread, at the edges is a faint herbal hop. F&T: The mildly firm carbonation gives the body a moderately rounded, creamy feel in the mouth, airy and soft, making this quite the easy drinker. Caramelized malts and maple syrup are the first tastes I notice, followed by tart green grape skins and pulp. A nice hop spiciness comes out towards the end, adding to the dry white grape, sweet caramel, crusty grain bread finish. An interesting take on the pale ale, not something I would want all the time, but does make a good change of pace beer.

The beer pours well and has a nice color, but the taste was disappointing. I was expecting a stronger grape flavor, while it is fruity, it isn’t really grape at all.

Bottle from BevMo. Medium amber/brown in color. Somewhat bready malty aroma. Roasty malted flavor. A hint of hoppy bitterness towards the end. Tastes like a million other average pale ales.
