Tastes mildly sweet, finish is sort of grape-ish, mildly astringent. "It’s like you are drinking a pale ale after biting into a fresh green seedless grape"... Huh? Maybe I’ll go try that and see what it’s really like because I couldn’t taste the grapes and the hops were on vacation when brewing this one so it can’t be a pale ale. Contest winner? Not sure how. While not awful, it’s nowhere near the Longshot Weizenbock winner. IndianaRed (1560), Boise, Idaho, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 29, 2008 Bottle pours a medium light amber witha small fine lasting white head. I suppose that is grape that i smell in there. Very faint, though I suppose if you wanted serious grap there is always smuckers. I would call this an amber with a waft of grape notes. Don’t know if I taste it at all.

Saw this at the beer store and kinda wondered what on Earth they were thinking, but not one to flee responsibility I bought it, brought it home and avoided it for a couple of weeks. Pours an amber color with a couple fingers of head and an unseemly aroma of sweet white grape juice, citrusy pale ale scents and some bread-like malt. Flavor is acceptable, but wierd. Like a normal, mild and somewhat uninteresting micro-brew that someone made sweet by dumping a bunch of white grape juice into. Pretty sure I could live clean and easy without another one of these. I would guess that it was a fairly bleak year for the Longshot application pool if this made the cut... either that or they were going for the sweet and malty loving crowd. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Mar 24, 2008 Bottle. Pours a reddish-orange color with a nice white head. Aroma of wheat, also I got some prune and light fruits. Taste of wheat (predominantly), honey (only slightly), and some sour grape (also hard to taste, but it was there!). Mouthfeel was a bit thicker, stickier than I’d expect from a pale ale. Also pretty sweet. Hmm...I’m not sure why more people don’t like this beer, I thought it was an excellent example of a fruity pale ale (wouldn’t classify this as a fruit beer though...). I think people are deceived by the name, but I enjoyed the subtle sour grape taste admidst a nice, sweet pale ale. Swalden28 (1512), McKinney, Texas, USA

Flavor was unique, light grape flavor, very light, thank god, with a very nice maltiness as well as a nice very slight bitterness to compliment the taste......pretty good! 17thfloor (1498), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Mar 21, 2008 Very sweet pale ale.. this stuff is kind of a mess. Typical Sam Adams sweet sticky malts with some flavors of grape-skins, but not merged in a congruent way. Nice idea... bad execution. tomthompson89 (1489), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Feb 28, 2008 I don’t find this beer to be excessively sweet, it is quite fruity though. One gets the impression of grape skin on the finish that blends with the very light hops in an interesting way. Might be worth a shot if you’re desperate for something new.
