Taste is weird and cheesy with an odd astringency, a pinch of salt and no grape that I can detect. Finish is short and biscuity. They should rename this one "Cheese and Cracker Pale Ale"$1/12oz MadIndian (997), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 18, 2008 Bottle from Long shot. Amber pour with mild fruit and carmamel malt. Taste was pretty much the same except for a yeasty finish. It was ok. pinkzambia (989), Boise, Idaho, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | May 29, 2008 Bottle: Clear dark gold flavor with a white head and runny lacing. Fruity aroma consisting mainly of malts. You definitely pick up on the green grapes. This brew tastes like a chardonnay crashed into a premium lager. Sweet flavors with a slight dry finish. Thanks BuckeyeBoy for bringing this one into the shop. ajm (965), Los Angeles, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 26, 2008 Updated: May 13, 2009Not bad, but the combination of hops and grapes is neutralizing, and left me with the impression of neither. A good hot-day beer if very cold, but has that Sam Adams ’gloss.’ and probably not a great addition to the style. biznizness (956), Mooresville, North Carolina, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jun 28, 2008 OK, I guess? Didn’t really feel the grape thing too much. I guess I was surprised this actually won. Not really worth going out of your way for. nimbleprop (951), SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Feb 19, 2008 Pours a transparent copper amber color with a lacing, thin, slightly off white head. Look hard for the aroma and I guess you’ll find grapes and biscuit but too weak to even be called subtle. Flavor is really weak, malt doesn’t really assert itself until the very end and even then there’s just a touch. Otherwise the flavor is of fruit juice (apple/grape). Finish is watery with a touch of lasting sweetness. Side by side with the Longshot Weizenbock this is child’s play. Maybe it didn’t translate well from the home brew to the big kettles at Sam Adams, but this was a BIG miss for me. Finishing a beer this forgettable really makes me wonder how in the world this beer was chosen for mass production, tennisjoel (951), Shakopee, Minnesota, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 22, 2008 I don’t see this beer fitting either the fruit or pale ale categories. Tastes more like an amber ale. Less hops than I’d expect, and some fruitiness. Hard to pinpoint the grape though. Fairly easy drinking. The weizenbock is easily superior within the 2007 competition however. topherh (943), Kearney, Missouri, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Apr 1, 2008 12 oz bottle pours typical amber color. Aroma is fruity and sweet. Flavor is sweet and malty with a slightly bitter bite in the finish. A little to sweet for my liking.
