| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 30, 2008 Pours a clear ornage-gold colour with a thick frothy off-white head. The nose is very muted with some honey-sweet malts and no distinct notes of grapes to be detected. The flavour consists light malts, white grapes, earthy-sweetness and lager-like tones. The aftertaste leaves a slight lingering of honey and some vinous tones. The grapes are so subtle that I wouldn’t pick up on them without being told they are there. If I had entered the contest this year and lost to this POS I would be thoroughly insulted. The finish is medium dry and short. Eh. wcampbell (582), Central, South Carolina, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 9/20 | Feb 27, 2008 Not very good. Pretty weak flavor. A little bit of grape sweetness, but I am not really tasting any fruitiness. Light bodied, pale lager taste. Drinkable. My beer is way better than this. Metalhead (572), Lake Zurich, Illinois, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 25, 2008 Light amber/honey color. Decent head. Somewhat sweet malt caramel aroma. Tastes pretty much the same. Didn’t notice any grapes and hardly any hops either. Went down pretty easy. Not bad. jimmack34 (570), Lancaster, Ohio, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 11, 2008 Bottle. I had this one right after it came out, and Im going off memory. Smelled like a very gentle belgium white. Very faint smell of fruit. Tasted crisp and light, hints of gape and hops, with some grain malts, and very drinkable. Unique flavor. Glad to see Sam Adams pick a non-typcal beer for this winner, although not entirely my choice of brews, but a refreshing alternative. Optigon (562), Bloomington, Indiana, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Mar 2, 2008 Pours orange-brown, with a fine, moderate, white head. Aroma is rather sweet and lightly hoppy. Almost artificially so. Flavor is thin and sweet. Nothing really grapy about it. Light mouth feel. Pretty limp offering. dwaggs2 (561), Lee’s Summit, Missouri, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 2, 2009 Bottle. Pours an amber color. Not bad for a long shot winner. Aroma is grapes, apples, and other fruits. Flavor is yeast, grains and fruit. Not bad. Nephilium (557), Ohio, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Apr 24, 2008 Slightly sweet aroma, with a touch of wine notes to it. Pours a clear amber with a dusting of white head. Starts with a touch of sweetness, with a very light body. Almost no noticeable hop presence. Not a fan of this one. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 19, 2008 Poured from bottle 4/2008. More malt than hops in the aroma, with a bit of gas. Bronze with thin lacing head, Seems to equal part hops, malt and grape - and it’s not a bad combo. Maple syrup noticed more as a woody flavor in the aftertaste - not sweet. Mellows at the finish. Well done and unique.
