Commercial Description:
Created by Samuel Adams Employee Lili Hess, Hawaii This is a very creative spin on a pale ale. As Lili describes it, "It’s like you are drinking a pale ale after biting into a fresh green seedless grape." This delicate brew is light-bodied with unique sweet, yet dry flavors from the grapes. What a combination...

Bottle and served in standard pint glass: Clean coppery hue with a fizzy head and spotty lace. The aroma has notes of caramel and bready grains, light white grapes, some floral esters and yeasty. The taste is toasted malt and some grape and currant in support. A lack of much bitterness hurts the palate depth. The mouth feel is lively and thin. Overall this is a weak brew from the nose all the way to the aftertaste.

Sampled at Cellar’s WIne & Spirits weekly beer tasting in St Paul, MN. Pours a clear light copper amber brew with a thin off-white head that quickly disappears to a thin white head. Aroma is almost as absent as someone’s deadbeat ex-spouse’s monthly alimony check. I could just barely pick up any hop scent, maybe a dry grassy hop character. Taste is mildly semi-sweet with a dry pale malt flavor that quickly falls apart. Finish is semi-sweet, a little malt and dry hop character but then a crisp and clean cut aftertaste. I did not pick up any grape or white grape juice flavors. Could have left the white grape skins in the aging tank a little longer.

Bottled. Poured translucent lighter orange with a short cap of white head. The aroma opened with sweet green grapes backed by soft caramel and grapefruit backing.. warmth brought out a touch of clover honey as it warmed.. pleasant. The flavor had more of that honey at its core, with mild grapefruit bitterness surrounding.. artificially-sweetened grape seeds stick on the finish.. there was nothing strikingly good here, but nothing unpleasant. Lighter-bodied and sweet on the palate with decent balance. Very drinkable.

This fruit beer pours a medium orange gold color from a 12 oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head, with a quickly dissipating head. Aroma is malty, some grape and grain. Medium bodied fruit beer. The malts are bready and sweet. The hops are floral and earthy. The grape flavors are more pronounced at the finish, there also seems to be a bit of oakiness as well. Touch of diacetyl as well. Kind of an interesting beer, you can definitely see and taste the homebrew origins in this one. Not quite sure it works, but it is interesting and glad that Boston Beer Company goes out n a limb, sort of, to make beers like this. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is crisp and clean. Aftertaste is slightly bitter with a hint of grape skin.

Bottle. Interesting! Dark medium amber with a definite reddish tinge and a clingy head. The aroma hints at some high gravity, seemingly, but it certainly doesn’t drink that way. Very light and pleasant with just a hint of grapeiness, sweet and mellow. Nice even-keeled beer. (#3363, 3/30/2008)

Bottle. An amber body with an off white head. Thin with a fruity grape start with some subtle woodiness and caramel malt. Mmm SA never makes great fruit beers, im sure this was much better small batch.

Copper color with a thin head. Light aroma of hops. Plain, dry hop taste. No grape at all. Nothing offensive, but no way is this a fruit beer. It’s a simple APA that’s mislabeled.

Pours clear deep golden- coppery with a thin lasting head. Aroma is light citrusy and grassy hops slight cattiness, and green grapeskin, and catty white wine. Flavor si a bit sweet, light bitterness, green grapeskin astringency and roughness, with more white wine and some chaap sparkling wine- a bit of apple and acetaldehyde.
