Commercial Description:
Created by Samuel Adams Employee Lili Hess, Hawaii This is a very creative spin on a pale ale. As Lili describes it, "It’s like you are drinking a pale ale after biting into a fresh green seedless grape." This delicate brew is light-bodied with unique sweet, yet dry flavors from the grapes. What a combination...

Pours a rich copper amber color with a full creamy two finger head that recedes slowly leaving a full ring of creamy lace. Aromas of chestnuts (bamboo chutes ?) and sweet malted grape skins. Full nectar with soft and creamy residual effers. Big and malty with a mild grapey sweetness. Mellow acids with slight biscuiting. It’s definately fruity, I can also taste some nectarine, apple, and melon. The finish is long and fruity with a mild bittering. This is a very rich brew. Almost reminds my of Midas Touch.

A light amber pour with a good 1 inch head, that’s very foamy. Nice malt, aroma with a hint of sugar and fruity sweetness.Complex flavor, of malt, oatmeal, sugar, fruit, and fruit peel. Not too overwhelming though. The grape tast is slight, very slight. The head diminishes quickly and the brew leaves some suds on the walls of the glass. The grape citrus and dryness comes through on the finish as the glass draws down.

12 oz. bottle courtesy of DYCSoccer17 - thanks. Fairly typical pale ale appearance with rather finely laced eggshell head. Cereally aroma with some light caramel and grape - less wine grape than standard Concord grapes here. Contrary to the description, I definitely get red grapes versus white grapes here. Flavor is rather dry, rich cereal malts prevail. Very low acidity here, surprisingly, contributing to a rather odd mouthfeel. The grape is rather light in the flavor, really just contributing a fruity penumbra to the decisive maltiness. Rather dry in the finish, low bitterness. An unusual but well-executed beer.

This was interesting and I’m glad I tried it. The grape sweetness was definitely more prominent than any hoppiness one would imagine with the "pale ale" in the title. This is deifnitely a fruit beer first. The maple was a nice addition as well. I rarely meet a fruit beer that I do enjoy and this is one of them. Well done Lili!

Pours from the 12 oz brown bottle a classic copper color with a pillowy, off-white 1 1/2 finger head that settles into a nice, bubbly collar. Carbonation is active, but not heavy. Aroma is malty and slightly sweet, there’s a hint of the maple syrup mentioned on the label. Taste is sweet for a pale ale, but not in a bad way. This is a bit of a relief because I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. I was expecting something along the lines of DFH Raison D’etre, but seeing the addition of the aforementioned maple syrup made me think that this was either going to be pretty good or it could go horribly wrong! I’ll say it’s prety good! There’s a little hint of the grape & syrup, but the minimal sweetness is balanced by some hoppiness on the end. The mouthfeel is light, but far from watery, this beer is quite sessionable. Hats off to you, Lili Hess, you’ve created something unique and tasty here! If this makes it into the regular Samuel Adams rotation, i’ll be sure to pick up more!

Clear amber body with a large creamy off-white head. Sweet caramel and lots of grape tannins. More sweet grape flavors, with a touch of caramel. Very little hop flavor, with a dry slight bitter finish. Medium body with moderate carbonation.
