Smells sweet and syrupy with apple and grape; yeasty and caramel/toffee (ala british pale ale) undertones. No hops. Not sure I get any more grape or any extra fruit in the flavor than I would a British pale ale. Very estery, banana, apple, pear and maybe some rum notes. No hops. Not a bad British Pale Ale, if you like that sort of thing. fredandboboflo (1431), East Setauket, New York, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 25, 2008 Bottle. Aroma seems a bit thin, not that unpleasant, although also nothing really of note other than an average pale ale, certainly nothing that makes you hurry off to your first sip. Flavor perfectly refreshing if not overwhelming, there is grape there, sour green grape, and it was my favorite part of the beer, so I really wish it was there more (as in if it was there more, I could see this becoming an item of regular consumption for me, hint hint). I thought the mouthfeel was quite solid overall, despite initial impressions that it might be weak. Sure, it’s not a GREAT beer, and it’s companion weizenbock is superior, but I strongly disagree with the sub-3 rating of this brew. scottw86 (185), Maryland, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Feb 21, 2008 Poured a honey color with a medium white head. Aromas of malts and grapes. Taste was very sweet with less grape flavor than I expected. A few more hops would have added a lot to the taste. There was virtually no aftertaste as a result. Overall definitely worth a try. bma4573 (136), Mechanicsville, Maryland, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 19, 2008 Bottle - pours a nice copper color with faint grape hints in the aroma. Light bodied and almost refreshing. With definite hints of grape in the flavor. Not bad at all. cainede (9), DuBois, Pennsylvania, USA does not count | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 8, 2008 Very crisp and refreshing, but not all that flavorful. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | May 15, 2008 Bottle. Body-deep gold/light brown body with a lasting 1 inch foamy head. Very pleasing to the eyes. Nose-stale crystal malt, lightly soapy, champagne, macroness. Taste-cheap hard grape candy, watered down unsweet grape Kool-Aid, high CO2, cherry, like a heavy, sweet, slightly fruity macro. twindadplus2 (417), Wisconsin, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Feb 28, 2008 Clear golden amber color with a small, foamy head. Don’t let the ’pale ale’ in the name fool you as the hop aroma and flavors are minimal. Aroma is light, sweet, fruity malt. Flavor is crisp and fruity with a bit of malt, acidity and a light, sweet grape finish. Not a pale ale at all but a good, refreshing light lager. Goodgrief (1161), Middletown, Delaware, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 5, 2008 My least favorite of all the Long Shot beers to date. Pour was a nice looking golden amber with a one finger head and nice lacing. Weak aroma of wet cardboard. The flavor was sweet sticky malts infused with an overripe grape flavor. The mouthfeel was really syrupy. This brew is certainly not light bodied with any dry flavors at all.
