Why can’t all Samuel Adam’s be like this?! dark brown with a foamy khaki head. rich, heavy caramel, toffee, almond, dubbel aroma. slight alcohol ring on th glass. flavor is sweet and very malty. Heavy bodied. 10%?... it is hidden very well. This is my favorite Sam Adams! markas101 (580), Fargo, North Dakota, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 12, 2007 33 cl bottle, Fargo. Dark brown colour, tan head, sweet caramel malt aroma. Sweet flavor, slight alcoholic burn, long malty finish. Not an every day beer for sure, but worth a taste. Heatwaves (56), Santa Ana, California, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Mar 12, 2007 This was a little too bold and strong for my tastes. The alcohol tended to detract from the flavor. Deep molasses, brown sugar, gingerbread and malt... with a little bit of sting behind it. Reddish, oaky appearance with a decent head. Flavors linger long after each sip. If you’re a fan of old ales, definitely give this one a try. If you don’t enjoy alcoholic gingerbread cookies, however, you might grab a nice IPA instead. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 11, 2007 Reddish brown pour with a thick tan head which recedes quickly to a slight film on the edges. Aroma is of fruit, notably plum. Mouthfeel is full-bodiedand slightly creamy. Vanilla, cherry and molasses up front. The middle explodes with more fruit and malt flavor as well as a nice warming from the alcohol which lingers into the finish. Finish is probably too sweet, but it’s good. One of the better sam adams and they didn’t even come up with it... that’s kind of funny actually! Haha, extra point for that! urbnhautebourg (974), Annapolis, Maryland, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 11, 2007 The aroma, palate, flavor and appearance is exactly what I would expect from an old ale--very fruity, malty and sweet, but not thick and just bitter enough. My experience with the style is relatively limited, but this is what I would want from the style. Cornfield (4966), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 11, 2007 This is a good looking beer, pouring a light mahogany body highlighted in ruby and topped with a tall, creamy beige head that does some nice lacework. The aroma is sweet and malty and has dark caramel, apples, molasses, and alcohol. It’s very rich and malty to drink, sweet but not cloying, fruity, and has a quiet alcohol kick. The finish is sticky sweet with a low burn. Interesting that one of Sam Adams’ better beers comes from a home brewer’s recipe.

Strong molasses and alcohol, bits of fruit and caramel. Very strong and pretty tasty....hope this make the regular rotation......but I doubt it.
