Commercial Description:
2008. Created by homebrewer Alex Drobshoff. Alex’s Brew is a bright copper German inspired bock with a complex, full bodied mouthfeel. Hints of rich plum and cherry aromas paired with its toasty, malt flavor make this the perfect beer to linger over on a cool evening.

The appearance is beautiful ruby red. Nice creamy head. Slooow bubbles. Awesome. The smell is sugary, toasted brown sugar malt. Comes off like a brown on steroids. A dry, nutty balance separates it. Malty goodness. The taste is a sweet, sugary malt that adds a late Oreo cookie taste. The hops are non-existent, which is okay for style. Cinnamon and heavy toffee. I would love some kind of bitter balance but I can live without it. The feel is smooth and buttery. Substantial but not a choker. A brownish, sweet, malty confection. Refreshing and easy-drinkin’. Textbook for style.

(bottle). Clear amber color. Medium off white head, which is mostly diminishing. Light malt and alcohol aroma. Malty flavor which lasts. Avg duration. Very smooth/clean finish. Slick texture. Soft carbonation. Fair lacing.

Its bocky. Caramel and malt. Not as full flavored as some, but good bock flavor anyway. Lager yeast. Good.

Pours deep brown with a red glow and a small off white head. Aroma is very malty and sweet. Candied nuts and dark fruit are prominent here. Some bland grains linger in the background but a lot of toasted bread, kind of medicinal. Flavor starts with some light bready fruitiness and sweet nuts. Gets slightly more sugary towards the finish and sort of fades without much finish. Mediumish body and a soft carbonation. Not horrible but just not that good.

bottle, pours brown with a tan head. Doughy malt some nutty notes and a brown sugar aroma. Nutty bread flavors very nice and full bodied with some sweetness finishing with a light bitterness. Extremely drinkable and a great example of style.

12 oz. bottle out of a 6 pack from the local convenience store. Nice dark brown color. Nice thin head sitting on top, that slowly fades away. This is a good looking bock if you ask me. Nice mix of sweet and toasty in the aroma. Not the most pungent beer, but a nice aroma I must say. The only problem with the aroma is the fact that it just isn’t that pungent. Wish it had more of a kick to it. Anyways, the flavor is what I love the most. Nice sweet tart cherry flavor that I can really pick up. This is probably due to the fact that I have been drinking the Bells Cherry Stout lately, and so my tongue is very sensitive to it i.e. the cherries. The toasted malt taste is also there. Very balanced beer in terms of sharing the malt and sweet flavors. The palate is nice and creamy, but extremely creamy to where it is exceptional. A very nice offering from Samuel Adams, or the guy that won the brewing contest that is.

Bottle. Brown with a small head. Smells of toast and malts. Flavor: roasted malts, bread, and burnt toast. OK, but nothing special.
