A thick off-white head sits over this deep mahogany brew. Caramel malt aroma with a touch of smokiness. Lightly sweet with a full body and some dryness in the finish. Very respectable offering from Sam Adams.

Bottle as shown. Pours a clear amber with a small light tan head that diminishes quickly leaving behind decent spotty lacing on the glass. The aroma is malt and caramel and light fruit. Medium mouthfeel with a caramel malt with raisin with a nice dry finish. Hides the alcohol well making it easy to drink, a good dunkler bock from Sam Adams.

Pours a clear copper color with a full tan head and significant lace. Aromas of toffee, apple cider, and dust. Flavor is built around the caramelized malts, with a somewhat papery or dusty offness in the finish. Medium bodied, mild carbonation.

Reviewed 6/29/2009 (bottle BB SEP 09): Pours a clear red colored body, with a big foamy tannish color head, lasting. Aroma of malty sweetness, some fruitiness, dark. Some spiciness and roast too. Some caramel and roasted aromas. Creamy mouthfeel, roasted flavor. With a nice aftertaste, somewhat toasty, not overpoweringly roasted. Almost nutty, but not quite. Nice flavors, some dark grape. Tasty and refreshing, just what I was looking for!

Aroma is heavy malt (caramel, cookie), light hop (grass), average yeast (leaves) with notes of dates, plum, and cherry. Medium bodied, thin texture, average carbonation, and a chalky finish. Average duration, moderate sweetness, light acidity and bitterness.

Pours a dark reddish brown. No head, even with an aggressive pour. Light aroma of toasted malt and chocolate. Flavor is very nice with sweet malts and dried sweet fruits. Sweetness and complexity were more apparent as the beer warmed. Medium finish with a moderate alcohol burn. Nice beer.
