Aroma is sour fruit, corn, malts, and caramel. The taste has a little bit of chocolate, a sour slightly bitter fruit taste, and sourdough bread. KnN (743), Greenbelt, Maryland, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 7, 2009 Pours a really nice ruby brown color with a thin short-lived off white head. Aroma is malt, some dark fruit, a bit of bread and hazelnut maybe. Flavor is more of the same. A lot of different nice notes in there with kind of a funny sharp hint at the back. Nice beer and very drinkable. GG (1640), NorCal, California, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 6, 2009 Part of the Longshot 6 pack. An enjoyable, albeit a bit boring beer. Perhaps I’m just not familiar enough with the bock style of beer. Either way, I did enjoy it. The beer pours out a nice dark amber color, clear with a light tan 1" foamy head. Aroma is pretty average with light toasted malts, caramel, a touch of honey and fruit. I didn’t get any plum or cherry aromas as the description suggests. I did get some light toasted malt, a bit of iced tea, roasted nuts and light cereal. A clean finish and after drinking the bottle, I really didn’t think another one was a good idea. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 4, 2009 Good bock, part of the mixed 6 pack. Pours light brown with lots of head. Creamy mouthfeel, bang on the style. Drinkable and balanced. obguthr (1046), Poquoson, Virginia, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 4, 2009 Aroma is chestnuts and honey with a vinegar and rubber taint. Dark copper brown, very clear, medium yellow head. Medium body and highly carbonated, but the flavor is not very strong. It tastes weakly of marzipan and plums with some mossy notes. Chestnut finish. Alcohol is undetectable. Easily drinkable and best when warm. Heathen (807), Riverside, New Jersey, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 3, 2009 THOUGHTS: Nice Not very complex, but very nice, although it did become cloying after a while. It was like having toast and jam with tea.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a clear, dark, slightly brownish red that you could call mahogany that was bright red in the light with a small, off-white head that mostly diminished. The aroma was moderate, bread, toast, nuts and caramel, slight citrus and some alcohol. The initial flavor was sweet, slightly acidic and a little bitter; while the finish was very sweet, slightly sour and bitter with an average to long duration. There was caramel, toast, tea, fruit, berry, citrus, nuts, toffee, a little toasted malt and slight hops. The medium body was syrupy and oily then dry with tingly carbonation and a light to moderate astringent and dry finish. boomerbrew (45), Texas, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 3, 2009 Bottle - served in glass. Certainly a malty aroma with this beer. I didn’t notice any cherry or plum flavors but did notice the full body toasty notes of flavor. Orange color when poaring but thick dark color in the glass. Hot with alcohol with heavy malty flavors; little more then i prefer but fits the style. I am also a homebrewer and thought this had a lot of the favors of my Vienna and/or Maibock. I think a little more aging would settle some of the sweetness. Good beer overall. DYCSoccer17 (2192), Davis, California, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Jul 2, 2009 12 ounce bottle from a 6er purchased at BevMo in Vacaville, CA. Aroma is nice and roasted with some sweet brown sugar maltiness as well as some metallic hop notes. There is also some raisin in there, too. Pretty aromatic and nice. Transparent dark amber body with a medium light tan head that is pretty strong. Impeccable lacing. Wow, this is pretty good shit. Has some nice sweet, but not too sweet roasted and raisiny malt flavors to start. Light chocolate, too. This has a very smooth and velvety mouthfeel. Finishes with a lingering metallic hop spiciness. Well balanced and well done. I’m impressed.
