Commercial Description:
2008. Created by homebrewer Alex Drobshoff. Alex’s Brew is a bright copper German inspired bock with a complex, full bodied mouthfeel. Hints of rich plum and cherry aromas paired with its toasty, malt flavor make this the perfect beer to linger over on a cool evening.

The aroma is weak but it has chocolate, toasted malt, and light fruit. The appearance is brown with an average head. The flavor is like the aroma with a bit of bite at the end. The palate is thin. Overall it’s pretty good.

Light golden brown colour. A little toasty, caramelly, mildish bock. Mild toasty body. Some faint chocolate malt accents. Moderate body. Moderate sweetness.

Deep garnet. Head disappears fast, leaving scant lace. Sweet raisin bread aroma, medjool dates and brown sugar. Clean, drinkable medium body with good level of carbonation. Flavors are sweet, simple, and quite tasty. Malty and smooth. Nothing exceptional but drinkable and decent. Lots of simple sugars tho, and I think it might get cloying if I had more than one.

The malt character on this is quite fruity, and only occasionally seems to tip over into pruniness (which I despise). Quite good, really.

Pours a dark brown and ruby red with a thick, white head. Aroma is very malt heavy with some light dark fruit and cherry notes with a light chocolate malt not at the end. Flavor starts off with a light Munich malt note, moving into a prunish fruit and later a cherry flavor and ends with a rye, toffee and light caramel flavor. Beer has a great creamy feel to it, density is perfect for they style and carbonation is moderate. Overall this is one beer I would love to Sam Adam’s make as a regular beer and one that is a very solid example of why the Longshot series is great.

Rich copper amber hue, modest off-white head with fair lacing, good clarity. Nose is bread and melanoidins, toffee, light caramel. Flavor is solid bock-based malts highlighted by melanoidins, breadcrusts, nuts and toffee, hints of esters and brown sugar, finishes with slightly sweet toast. Medium-bodied, light carbonation, thin and smooth texture. An great example of a traditional bock by style guidelines, if you don’t like this then you don’t like bocks!

Pours a mostly translucent deep ruby reddish/amber with a medium creamy off white head that laced. Aroma of sweet malts, toffee, nuts, rye bread and some citrus notes. Flavor of sweet toasted malt, caramel, toffee, nuts, brown sugar and hints of honey.
