Aug 28, 2009 Bottle. Rust colored with a short beige head. Aroma is strong caramel and sweet malt with light fruit and brown sugar. Taste is equally sweet and laden with more caramel and fruit notes. Lots of brown sugar here as well. Light toasted malt in spots. Body is chewy with a creamy carbonation. Ends with more caramel, sweet malt, stronger fruit notes, especially towards the tail end, and toasted malt. Rather tasty but a smidge too sweet for more than one.

Aug 28, 2009 Reddish chestnut in color with a ginormously frothy, beautiful off-white head that is slowly (but mostly) diminishing. Lacing is heavy and sticky. Toasty aroma, moderately nutty with huge overtones of caramel candy. Lightly roasted malt flavor is again highly nutty, moderately sweet with more caramel. Hints of smoke towards the end. Finish is a touch thin with mild sour grain notes. Overall - solid and fantastically drinkable.

Aug 25, 2009 12oz bottle. Poured a deerp orangish/almost brown color with an averaged sized off whtie head. Aromas of earthiness, toasty, some smoke, caramel, and roast. Tastes of toasted caramel, lighter earthiness, chocolate, and some wood.

Aug 20, 2009 12 oz. bottle to my trusty SA Lager glass. Poured a brown color with amber tones showing through. The head was bubbly, light tan foam that seemed to get creamier looking as I let it settle, along with some foamy lacing. The aroma was some initial prune/plum sweetness and toasty, smooth malt. The flavor was dark toasted, a touch of caramel. and a strong but nicely balanced combination of the malt and hop bitterness. A medium + body. Enjoyable.

Aug 19, 2009 Pours a dark super clear amber. Lovely looking beer. Nose is some strong caramel and toffee, slight roast, lager yeast and some odd hops. Flavor is Nutty with some hints of caramel and smoke. A odd minty note I don’t like to much and finishes with a nice german lager taste. This is really tasty for the style.

Aug 17, 2009 12oz bottle obtained at Hannaford. Pours a crystal-clear amber-copper body with nearly an inch of off-white head that dissipates slowly leaving some nice lacing. Caramel, toffee, nut, chocolate with a hint of grassy minty hops. Chocolate, nut, toffee, hints of smoke/burnt malt and alcohol warming. Rich medium to full in body with moderate carbonation. Definitely a bit of a sipper, but one sip most definitely invites another and this beer was gone way way way too soon. What a phenomenal beer. I have not had such a good lager of any kind in a very long time and it’s really too bad that this won’t become at least a rotating release if not a regular offering.
