I know why it won. It is excellent. When a beer is this good I just give it a 5 because I want people to experience this beer. It is absolutely outstanding. Caramel, raisin, toasty, and spritely carbonation. A wonderful aftertaste. I want to mix this with a hop bomb and see what amazing flavor comes out of it.

12oz bottle obtained at Hannaford. Pours a crystal-clear amber-copper body with nearly an inch of off-white head that dissipates slowly leaving some nice lacing. Caramel, toffee, nut, chocolate with a hint of grassy minty hops. Chocolate, nut, toffee, hints of smoke/burnt malt and alcohol warming. Rich medium to full in body with moderate carbonation. Definitely a bit of a sipper, but one sip most definitely invites another and this beer was gone way way way too soon. What a phenomenal beer. I have not had such a good lager of any kind in a very long time and it’s really too bad that this won’t become at least a rotating release if not a regular offering.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a big mug. Appearance: The body had a deep dark brownish amber color with a big light tan head on top. The head hangs on well and slowly fades down to a thin covering. Lacing on the glass is slick and sides down as I drink. Smell: Its aroma is full of deep rich bready malt character. Taste/Mouth: The flavor has a big malty sweet character and solid full body. There are some light toasted notes, pretzel notes, caramel and thick bready maltiness throughout with just enough hops to let you know they are there too. The finish has some mild bitterness and herbal hop flavor quickly fading off the tongue. Its texture is smooth and slick on the palate with light carbonation. Notes: This is a great example of Bock beer! Very Well Done!!!

Pours a somewhat clear walnut with a tightly-bubbled, glossy layer of white head that leave amazing lace on sides of my glass. Moderate carbonation refuels the head constantly. The aroma has a lot of toasty malt, some biscuit, brown sugar and also has a slight hint of dark fruit and Michigan cherries. The flavor is bold and sweet at first, loads of sweet toasty malt, and a little bit nutty. Finish is still sweet, but mostly plum and a very pleasant cherry finish. The mouthfeel is great, smooth and silky, and finishes with lingering sweetness. This little malt bomb is really drinkable and enjoyable. Great beer!

A nutty aroma. Beautiful body. this is a rich rich beer. Sweetness and some nutty malts, this is nice, but certainly meant to be a sipper.

The appearance is clear and deep ruby red with a slightly off white head. The malt hits your nose as you near the glass, with rich carmel and melanoidins coming into play at first sip. Awesome aroma. Smooth and slightly nutty - right on target for this classic style. The hops are well in the background of this malt forward beer. Picked up some mild toffee notes, as well. Good effort by SA in reproducing this homebrewer’s beer.

From the 6-pack poured into a Becher style half liter. Aroma is malty and melanoidin rich with bready, toasty notes. Beautiful clear red with a tan head, small with tight lacing. Malty rich flavor with some dark fruit hints, with a thick chewy mouthfeel. Wonderfully balancedd between the malt sweetness and the bittering. A great sitting back and relaxing beer. A great example of a Bock.

I must say I really enjoyed this one. Very good bock. Nice dark coper color. Getting lots of malt, but a nice balance, not a total malt bomb or anything....I would buy this again!
