Commercial Description:
Created by Rodney Kibzey, Illinois Rodney describes his wonderfully complex brew as "deep amber in color with a full creamy body and a dark fruit and clove aroma." This traditional Bavarian style brew took Rodney a few batches to perfect, but the taste is worth all of his hard work.

Pours from the 12 oz. bottle a dark brown iced tea-ish color with a light beige fluffy 2 finger head that settles into a modest collar. I can’t see through the dark, unfiltered brew in front of me, so I can’t really get a feel of what the carbonation is like. I’m picking up a light, sweet fruitiness on the nose. Unexpectedly delicate. Taste is dry & malty. It’s also a bit unusual, I can’t quite put my finger on it. A muted kind of spiciness. Not necessarily bad, but...DIFFERENT. Admitedly, I don’t have much experience with weizenbocks, the only other one i’ve had is Victory’s Moonglow, which I enjoyed VERY much and this is nothing like. It has a nice meduim mouthfeel to it. As far as drinkability, it’s ok. A little strong, but not overpowering. Overall, i’m a bit ambivalent about this beer, it neither turns me on, nor turns me off. 2 more of these in the sixer to go, then it’s time to try the Grape Pale Ale.

Bottle. Pours a muddy, amber, large tan head. Good weizen aroma, some hints of banana, yeast, dark malt and hint of citrus and clove. Taste is good, dark maltiness. A hotness or overly spicy tone really stands out here. Bold, creamy, full flavor and body. One thing that detracts from the overall score is the wierd, spicy bite. I prefer my weizen bocks a bit more on the smooth, malty side.

Bottle into Weizen glass. Poured a rich oxblood/mud color with a plentiful tan head that laced thick and marvelous: very satisfying to see. The aroma was very spicy and sweet, full of fruits and warmth. Flavor was much more of th spice, a malty, slight roasty sweetness, and more fruit at the finish. Palate was clean, some lingering sweet, much lingering spice. This was a very warming beer, very flavorful, but maybe just a touch spicy. Maybe not, however. Try this again on a cool evening and I might have a different impression.

Murky brown with minimal head. Aroma is a winner, a lot of clove and banana. A little more carbonation would help this out, the alcohol and really sweet malt are out of balance and not easy to love. Overall solid but not for me.

Pours a murky brown with a moderate head that quickly diminishes. Aroma is sweet bananas, bubble gum and earthy cloves scents. Flavor is toasted wheat, light cloves, spice and some light fruit. Finish is long and light spice. Medium bodied and average carbonation.

Cloudy brown pour with a big creamy tan head. Lots of spice and fruit in the aroma. Notably clove and banana. Nice sweet grain flavor with the spice and fruit coming through again. Nice on the palate, well rounded. Seriously enjoyable!

The color was murky brown. The head was creamy and off-white. The aroma was spice, dark frew, and sweet. The flavor was spice, sweet, and banana. The palate was medium-bodied. The finish was warm.

This wasn’t bad either considering. Lots of big fruit flavors up front, with just the right amount of yeastiness, some dark fruits, just a bit too herbal with a mouthfeel that is a little too heavy, but not a bad effort.
