| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 11, 2008 12 oz. distinctive Samuel Adams bottle, notched freshness date along the left side of the label (July 2008), sampled in a weizen glass.
L: Cloudy crayon brown with a frothy, fluffy rough hewed beige head, good retention, leaves behind a fair amount of splotchy curtain-like lace, this is off to a good looking start.
S: First notes of banana, clove and earthy bread, followed by caramel, cocoa and a light nuttiness. As it warms a soft spiciness comes out along with mild aromas of dark figs and prunes.
F&T: Creamy and moderately bodied with enough firmness and heft from the carbonation to give this weizenbock a well rounded feel in the mouth. Lightly roasted malty tastes of caramel, chocolate and almonds with a nice wheat tang towards the end. Following the initial malt tastes comes a soft banana, clove and tingling spiciness, then mildly sweet dried fruit flavors of figs and raisins, plus traces of sour prunes. Finishes with a sprightly dry hop spiciness, caramel, clove and tart malted wheat.
I thought this was a very enjoyable weizenbock, easy to see why it was picked as a LongShot winner. Well crafted and easy to sip, I wouldn’t mind if this became a seasonal release from BBC.

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 11, 2008 Bottle pours a bit like a prune juice hue with a nice big off white head with no lace. The aroma is banana-clove, some spice not otherwise specified, and vanilla. the flavor is malty, warming, sour in the finish, clove, some dehydrated banana bits, and rather well coordinated. The palate is cleansing yet rich. Overall, this is really a decent effort, but not my style. Swalden28 (1449), McKinney, Texas, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 11, 2008 Love the look and smell! Not that big of a fan of strong beers. However this one is just right, imo. Good job Rodney. shendrix (478), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Mar 10, 2008 It’s good, but I must admit I was surprised to see the 93 percentile rating pop up on Ratebeer. A dark amber brew, as advertised, mingling cloves, figs, vanilla notes, and clover on the palate for a pleasing, easy-going drink that belies the 7.2 % alcohol it’s carrying. A tad too well behaved for my tastes, bordering on blandness, but it would be good set up alongside a pizza. kidmartinek (979), austin, Texas, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 10, 2008 A dark dark amber pour with a glorious cream tan head. The head lasts for 1/2 the beer. It smells of wheat and clove. The flavor is a strong clove with hints of fruit, and a bit of spice. The mouthfeel is creamy and frothy. The aftertaste is malty sweet and good. A really good beer. Great with steak. Small lacing on the glass.
