Thick brown in color with a fluffy pillow-like head that is soapy. Smell is light Belgian yeast, similar to a hefe. Not a preferred style of mine. Flavor is decent, actually reminds me of a roasted hefeweizen - not bad. Clove in smell and flavor. Thick mouthfeel but high carbonation. Pretty good for the style, just not a style I like. mjg74 (1995), La Mesa, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Mar 5, 2008 Bottle from BevMo. Pours a hazy dark brownish color. Sweet yeasty aroma. Some bubblegum and spicy clove. Solid yeasty flavor with a bit of a burnt tobacco taste. Some toffee. Quite refreshing. islay (474), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 5, 2008 Aroma: Powerful. Bubblegum, banana, banana chocolate chip muffin, lemon, biscuit, sweet cigar tobacco, and tangerine scents. Very good smell.
Appearance: Cloudy. Dirty, medium brown color. Large amount of thick beige head. Nice lacing.
Flavor: Strong flavors. Sweet start but very dry finish. Generally tastes like it smells. Perhaps a bit too sweet. Quite spicy: Clove, cinnamon, and white pepper.
Palate: Long, surprisingly parchingly dry, lightly bitter aftertaste. Light to medium body. Smooth and lively in the palate. Easy to drink.
Overall: Sam Adams LongShot Weizenbock is a very good, satisfying beer. It is reminiscent of a Christmas ale in its spiciness and dryness. Poured from a 12 oz. bottle. Thanks to tennisjoel for this bottle. The last two Boston Beer Company products I’ve tasted (Imperial Pilsner and this) have been excellent. Zinister (1199), Houston, Texas, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 5, 2008 Thanks to KAggie97 for handing me this. Filthy brown pour with solid beer head. Aroma was flambéed bananas with caramelized sugar on top...yummy. A wash of more subtle bananas mixed with cloves covers the tongue on first taste. Mouthfeel is pretty straightforward. The finish is quick, but leaves a nice sugared malt taste. Thanks Kaggie! SoBloHero (56), Buffalo, New York, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Mar 5, 2008 I was very pleased with this beer. A nice dark color with a modest head. Tasted great from begining until the end. The aftertaste is pleasant and leaves you wanting more. freekyp (900), Thomasville, North Carolina, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 2/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Mar 4, 2008 While it pours a muddy brown and in somewhat unsightly, this is the perfect wiezenbock. Malty brown sugar aroma with definitive banana notes portend a like flavor. Somewhat sweet but with a lite hop bite on end to temper the malt. Full bodied but easily drinkable for a 7.2% brew. Would be great with a hearty Thanksgiving turkey dinner. I love to see this make it into SA’s regular line-up. grimreeser (796), Minnesota, USA

Medium to heavy roasted bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet and small alcohol bite finish of moderate duration. Solid drinkable brew.
