SA continues to impress me with the quality and breadth of their products and their innovation. This brew clearly has the banana esters down. Doesn’t have any roasted malt aspect in the nose that you might expect from a Weizenbock. Murky blackish brown. Looks not too dissimilar to a black and tan, with the darker hues toward the top of the glass. Thin, creamyt tan head. You know, so often people describe weissbiers as having banana and clove in the aroma, and I always had trouble detecting the clove. Hey, I smoked clove cigarettes when I was a teen, so I should know what clove is. This is the first brew where I can distinctly TASTE clove. For that, and for an eminently drinkable and worthy representation of the weizenbock style, I salute and salud Rodney Kibzey. Excellent lace. Absolutely no flaws, lots of flavor and a pleasure to drink. I bought this beer at the suggestion of tennisjoel and he steered me the right direction. Well rated, but underrated IMO. jake65 (1725), Williston, North Dakota, USA

Wheat and spice make up the light aroma with bits of citrus. Taste brings in a little banana and a bit more clove. Rather smooth, balanced, and creamy. Not usually my favorite style, but this longshot was quite satisfying. SudsMcDuff (1703), was CapeTown,SA-now Houston, Texas, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 2, 2008 This is an exciting beer for me since this guy is from my hometown of Lombard, IL! - a beer non-entity (until recently when a Rock Bottom (Yorktown) opened up. So its with pride and excitement that I celebrate one of the Lilac Village’s own making the big time with this brew. Nice looking cloudy brown with a medium head. Aroma is big, sweet, and inviting - lots of banana, clove, and rich wheat. Flavor is a bit sweet, a bit spicy - cloves and banana/dark fruit dominate. I’m also getting alot of real wheat here. Not my favorite W-bock, but a solid take on the style that I should grab more of before its gone. GG (1661), NorCal, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 18, 2008 The best out of the LongShot series this year (which isn’t saying much, since the grape pale ale pretty much sucked). Huge clove notes in the aroma, which parlayed into a nice brown sugar-banana’s foster thing. But the easiest aroma to get was cloves. Appearance is a dark brown, cloudy with a nice one-finger thick head with dissipated into a creamy 1/2" thick head that stayed nearly the entire duration. Flavor were cloves, dark fruits, spicy, and enough character to make me think this was more akin to a Belgian dubbel. A very enjoyable beer either way you slice it.
