Huge clove notes in the aroma, which parlayed into a nice brown sugar-banana’s foster thing. But the easiest aroma to get was cloves. Appearance is a dark brown, cloudy with a nice one-finger thick head with dissipated into a creamy 1/2" thick head that stayed nearly the entire duration. Flavor were cloves, dark fruits, spicy, and enough character to make me think this was more akin to a Belgian dubbel. A very enjoyable beer either way you slice it. jason (1623), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA

Flavor is smokey, nutty, cloves, light fruit and earthy yeast. Went down smooth. Very enjoyable. TURDFERGUSON (1603), Carrboro, North Carolina, USA

Pours a deep, muddy, brown with a nice tan head and lace. Nose of banana bread, orange peel, spices. Flavor has more banana, spices, and some clove. I found the mouthfeel to be a little sharp around the edges. Caught a bit of a cough syrup thing going on that I didn’t like too much. Otherwise, a pretty on point weizenbock. Alcohol well hidden. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 7, 2008 12oz bottle-A cloudy brown with a nice tight tan head which emits an aroma of roasted malt, sugar, caramel, wheat, banana, and slight belgian yeast. Taste from this medium bodied brew is of the same with the banana and cloves being very prominent along with some malt. I think this almost fits better as a Dunkel Weizen in the beginning then as it warms up the alcohol and malt become more prominent. Nice tasting brew. jpm30 (1588), East Central, Georgia, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 11, 2008 12 oz. distinctive Samuel Adams bottle, notched freshness date along the left side of the label (July 2008), sampled in a weizen glass.
L: Cloudy crayon brown with a frothy, fluffy rough hewed beige head, good retention, leaves behind a fair amount of splotchy curtain-like lace, this is off to a good looking start.
S: First notes of banana, clove and earthy bread, followed by caramel, cocoa and a light nuttiness. As it warms a soft spiciness comes out along with mild aromas of dark figs and prunes.
F&T: Creamy and moderately bodied with enough firmness and heft from the carbonation to give this weizenbock a well rounded feel in the mouth. Lightly roasted malty tastes of caramel, chocolate and almonds with a nice wheat tang towards the end. Following the initial malt tastes comes a soft banana, clove and tingling spiciness, then mildly sweet dried fruit flavors of figs and raisins, plus traces of sour prunes. Finishes with a sprightly dry hop spiciness, caramel, clove and tart malted wheat.
I thought this was a very enjoyable weizenbock, easy to see why it was picked as a LongShot winner. Well crafted and easy to sip, I wouldn’t mind if this became a seasonal release from BBC.

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 10, 2008 Pours hazy dark brown with a mostly maintained foamy tan head. Aroma has lots of banana, little bit of clove with some caramel notes. Tastes of estery bananas and toffee. Medium to full bodied with lush carbonation. The best LongShot beer I’ve had yet. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 13, 2008 Bottle. Dingy brown with a pretty big fizz up that dies down fairly quickly. I’m greeted by sweet aromas of brown sugar, cloves and dark fruit like figs. Flavors are more of the same, but cloves come out fairly strongly. esjaygee (1531), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA
