Powerful aroma of cinnamon and coriander, apple cider, banana. Flavor is also strong though some parts just feel a bit too prominent. This is really heavy on the banana and clove. Also prevalent are some cinnamon and apple cider. Not especially sweet, and even finishing a tad dry. Body feels decent though I would have liked it a bit fuller or livelier. Although it almost comes across too assertively, I am impressed by the flavor profile here. I appreciate Sam Adams giving kudos to the hard-working members of the homebrew community, but I would like them to come up with more flavorful beers like this one on their own. Strong clove and fruit aroma. The flavor follows suit with rich dark fruit over a wheat base and lot a small amount of clove. Rich and creamy. Nice job, Rodney! | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 22, 2008 Cloudy brown pour with a big creamy tan head. Lots of spice and fruit in the aroma. Notably clove and banana. Nice sweet grain flavor with the spice and fruit coming through again. Nice on the palate, well rounded. Seriously enjoyable! Gregis (1135), Shawnee, Kansas, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Apr 17, 2008 Pours a cloudy, dark root beer brown with a sizable, dense, creamy beige head that laces nicely. The nose is of cloves, candy sugar, dark fruit, light banana and a touch of alcohol. Nice. Medium-bodied and silky, the palate finishes moderately spicy and surprisingly warming. A round wheat body is backed by notes of dark fruit, cloves, pepper, banana and alcohol. While this is one of the better Sam Adams brews that I’ve tried, I have an aversion to heavily spiced beers. This one started really nicely, but, as I approached the bottom of the glass, it began to grate on me a bit with its overt spiciness. I generally like the fruity and normally subtle esters that come with German weissbier yeast, but this tastes as though they’ve actually added spices to the recipe. As it is it’s pretty good, but if the spiciness were toned down a bit, I’d have enjoyed it even more. kyzr (1127), Belgrade, Montana, USA

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Apr 21, 2008 This wasn’t bad either considering. Lots of big fruit flavors up front, with just the right amount of yeastiness, some dark fruits, just a bit too herbal with a mouthfeel that is a little too heavy, but not a bad effort. jeremytoni (1122), Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA
