Feb 6, 2008 [Bottle, thanks Guerde] Pours reddish brown with a good sized light tan head. Aroma is very nice with a lot of banana, bubblegum and cloves. No surprises in the taste as it was very similar to the aroma--only a little weaker. Very smooth, but mouthfeel was a little thin and the finish a bit short. A solid beer overall.

Feb 24, 2008 Aroma of wheat, fruitiness, a little alcohol and some light chocolate. Flavor was very flavorful and enjoyable with not much alcohol at all. This was a pretty good suprise from sam adams. I think this one might get a little better with some age on it.

Jun 13, 2008 THOUGHTS: A really nice beer. Seems like a ramped up Dunkelweiss. I wouldn’t mind seeing this as a year round offering from someone.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a medium to dark brown with great carbonation and an average-sized, creamy, off-white head that kept a nice sheet and left excellent lacing. The aroma was light to moderate milk chocolate malt, light to moderate yeast, wheat, spices and a hint of banana. The initial flavor was lightly sweet and moderately acidic; while the finish was moderately sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter and sour with a short to average duration. There was wheat, chocolate, some spice and maybe a hint of banana. The medium body was creamy with lightly fizzy carbonation and a light astringent finish.

Feb 17, 2008 Aroma is chewy wheat, dark fruit, and bubblegum- sweet and rich.
It leaves slight wisps of head around the sides of the glass and the muddy brown complexion is kind of sexy.
There are so many layers of flavor in this beer! At first I get a rich, creamy beer without much complexity- some banana, some clove et cetera. Typical. However, as the beer warms up I start to get more of a gummy flavor with hints of black pepper and dull red fruit.
Finish is dull fruit, pepper, and a lingering sense of a creaminess that has already passed.
Very solid offering from Sam Adams.

Mar 4, 2008 Pours a murky looking brown with a thin off-white head. Aroma of clove, banana, some fruit. Nice flavor, sweet with a bit of an alcohol bite at the end.

Apr 28, 2008 (bottle): Pours a dark brown body, murky. Smallish but lasting gray head. Flowea grapey aroma. Okay body, flowery taste, too much fruit body. A little heavy without the flavor.

Mar 17, 2008 Homebrew. At first, it tasted like something I would make. Meaning drinkable and I feel lucky I am still alive. But as it warmed, it was better. Very dark. Poured beautifully. Dark Hazy. I enjoyed it. Some vinuous in the finish.

Nov 20, 2008 translucent hazy dark brown appearance, nice white head. Estery nose, flavor of dark crystal and wheat with the yeast being the predominate flavor. A very solid beer especiallhy for a macro, but the yeast doesn’t quite have the depth to make it a top of the line example
